Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro EV charger: which one suits it best?
The Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro is the entry version of the e-tron Sportback, built from March 2020 to July 2022. It has a 64 kWh usable battery and charges at up to 11 kW on alternating current as standard. A full charge at home takes about 6.5 hours, so one night on the driveway is enough. In standard form the car gains nothing from a 22 kW unit, because its onboard charger sets the ceiling. You can compare it with the other Audi EV chargers in our overview.
For the Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
If your car has the optional second onboard charger, a 22 kW EV charger halves the charging time.

Which EV charger suits the Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro?
This Audi accepts 11 kW on AC, so an 11 kW EV charger matches the car exactly. A faster unit simply waits for the car. There is one exception. Cars from roughly mid 2021 could be ordered with a second onboard charger, which lifts AC charging to 22 kW (3x32 A). With that option a full charge drops to about 3 hours 15 minutes, also including charging losses. A 22 kW EV charger then earns its place. Only the vehicle papers or the original order form settle it. A second charging port on the passenger side was also available separately, so it does not prove the 22 kW charger.
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It counts the electricity that goes into your car separately from your household use, so you know what each session costs. At 11 kW we currently have just one model with a MID meter. You will find it in our EV chargers with a MID meter range, not in the 11 kW listing. Nearly all MID models are 22 kW, so weigh that against the charging speed you need.
App control is the feature you will use every day. With an EV charger with an app you set a charging schedule and follow each session from your phone. Dynamic load balancing is the second one worth having. An EV charger with dynamic load balancing watches what the rest of the house draws. It lowers the charging current when demand rises, so your main fuse stays intact.
If this is your first charger, our EV chargers for home are the easiest place to start. Check whether a model comes with a fixed cable or a socket. A socket version also needs a Type 2 charging cable for this Audi.
How long does the Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro take to charge?
Divide the usable 64 kWh by your charging power: 64 divided by 11 gives just under 6 hours on paper. In practice a full charge takes about 6.5 hours. The last stretch of a charge slows down, and some energy is lost as heat along the way. You rarely start from empty, though. Plug in at 30 percent in the evening and the car is full long before you leave. With 346 km of WLTP range, that covers daily commuting comfortably. These figures apply to the e-tron Sportback 50 quattro built between 2020 and 2022.

Wallbox Discounter also has EV charger information for the other versions of this Sportback generation:
- Audi e-tron Sportback 55 quattro, with a larger battery and more range

At the end of 2022 Audi renamed the facelifted e-tron Sportback to Q8 Sportback e-tron. That is a different car with a larger battery pack, so check which one you have. This page covers the e-tron Sportback built from 2020 to 2022. For the newer car, read our page on the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron 55 quattro.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Audi e-tron Sportback 50 quattro need a 22 kW EV charger?
Not in standard form. Built between 2020 and 2022, this Audi takes a maximum of 11 kW on alternating current. A 22 kW unit therefore adds no speed at home. An 11 kW EV charger uses the full onboard capacity and fills the 64 kWh battery in about 6.5 hours. Cars from roughly mid 2021 could be ordered with the optional 22 kW onboard charger. With that option fitted, a full charge takes about 3 hours 15 minutes instead, again including charging losses.
Why is a MID meter interesting for me?
A MID meter measures your charging sessions with a certified kWh counter. It shows you what each session costs, separately from the rest of your electricity bill. We also recommend having the charger connected by a qualified electrician. Whether that is required depends on where you live, so check your local rules. Our installation service covers the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, while shipping is worldwide.
