CUPRA Born VZ EV charger: which one fits best?
The CUPRA Born VZ charges at home at up to 11 kW through a Type 2 connection. That figure settles the choice straight away. An 11 kW charger gets the full charging speed out of the car. A 22 kW charger cannot put its extra power to work here. With the large battery of the Born VZ, you will struggle without a fixed charger at home. See also the page on the CUPRA Born. The overview of all CUPRA EV chargers covers the rest of the range.
For the CUPRA Born VZ we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the CUPRA Born VZ?
The Born VZ charges at 11 kW at home, so an 11 kW charger uses the maximum the car allows. Look for a built-in MID meter as well. That is a certified kWh meter inside the charger, which records exactly how much power goes into the car. Because it sits in the charger, it counts your charging separately from the rest of your household use. You find that meter on our 11 kW and 22 kW models.
Browse all 11 kW EV chargers, or filter straight on EV chargers with a MID meter. A charger with dynamic load balancing lowers the charging power by itself when the rest of the house draws a lot. That helps on a busy fuse box. Not every charger we sell is built for a domestic connection, so our home EV chargers overview holds the ones that are. The Born VZ has a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable for charging away from home.
How long does the CUPRA Born VZ take to charge?
The Born VZ carries a usable battery of 79 kWh. On an 11 kW charger you can count on roughly 7 hours from empty to full. In practice it takes a little longer, because of charging losses. One night of charging at home is therefore plenty. On the road the car takes up to 185 kW on DC. That brings back a large part of the range in about half an hour.

Frequently asked questions
Does the CUPRA Born VZ need a three-phase charger?
For the full 11 kW you need a three-phase connection, which uses three live wires instead of one. With only a single phase at home the Born VZ charges more slowly. A charger with load balancing adjusts the power by itself, so it never overloads the circuit in your fuse box.
Why does a MID meter matter for the Born VZ?
A MID meter sits in the charger and records only what you put into the car. Your charging therefore stays separate from your household consumption. Because the meter is certified, that reading also holds up when someone else reimburses you. We recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician, which is safer and matters for your insurance.
