StreetScooter EV charger: which model suits your van?
The StreetScooter Work and Work L are compact electric delivery vans. They were made for the parcel rounds of Deutsche Post DHL. These are work vehicles, not passenger cars, built for short trips in town and one charge overnight. Good to know: production has stopped, so no new StreetScooters are being built. Still driving one? A fixed charging point at home or at your depot stays the easiest option. You start every morning with a full battery.
Charging specifications per StreetScooter model
| Model | Battery (indicative) | Max. AC charging power | Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreetScooter Work | approx. 20 kWh | approx. 3.7 kW (single-phase, 230 V / 16 A, Type 2) | StreetScooter Work |
| StreetScooter Work L | approx. 40 kWh | approx. 3.7 kW (single-phase, 230 V / 16 A, Type 2) | StreetScooter Work L |
Which EV charger suits a StreetScooter?
Both StreetScooter models charge through a Type 2 connection. The onboard charger is single-phase, at 230 V and 16 A, which comes to about 3.7 kW. That is the ceiling of the van itself.
A full battery therefore takes around 13 hours for the Work L and about 7 hours for the Work. These vans were built to charge overnight, so that fits a working day well.
A three-phase supply does not make them faster, because the onboard charger only ever uses one phase. A 22 kW charger adds nothing either: the van sets the limit, not the charger.
An 11 kW charger is still the sensible buy. The van takes one of its three phases at full speed. You also keep room for a next EV that charges faster.
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter. It records exactly how much electricity your van takes at home, separately from the rest of your building. In our range that meter is rare at 11 kW: only one model has it. Almost every charger with a built-in MID meter sits in the 22 kW category. Because the van never draws more than about 3.7 kW, a 22 kW model costs you nothing in charging speed. If that precise record matters to you, choose a 22 kW model. If not, an 11 kW charger covers everything this van needs.
Several 11 kW models can also be operated through an app. You then see each charging session and decide when the van charges.
For the StreetScooter we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. We ship worldwide, but installation is limited to those three countries. Elsewhere, have the connection made by a qualified electrician.

Frequently asked questions about StreetScooter EV chargers
What charging power does a StreetScooter have?
The StreetScooter Work and Work L charge through a Type 2 connection, single-phase at 230 V and 16 A. That is roughly 3.7 kW, and the van takes no more, whatever charger you plug it into. A full charge takes about 13 hours for the Work L and about 7 hours for the Work.
Is an 11 kW EV charger worth it for a StreetScooter?
Yes, though not because the van charges at 11 kW. It draws about 3.7 kW from one of the three phases, which is its full speed. You keep room for a next EV, and our range only offers a certified MID meter from 11 kW upwards.
