XPENG G9 Long Range EV charger for RWD and AWD: which one fits best?

The XPENG G9 RWD and AWD Long Range charge at home with up to 11 kW of alternating current. That runs through a Type 2 connection and settles which charger you need. An 11 kW home charger, also called a wallbox, uses the car's full AC power. The G9 will not charge any faster at home. Our overview of all EV chargers for XPENG puts every G9 version next to the rest of the XPENG range.

For the XPENG G9 we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

This page describes the previous generation of the G9. XPENG renewed the model in 2025. Check the battery, range and charging power in your own vehicle documents.

Which EV charger suits the XPENG G9?

The G9 accepts a maximum of 11 kW at home, so you want an 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection. A 22 kW unit adds nothing here. The car never draws more than 11 kW over AC, so the extra capacity stays unused.

Three features are worth weighing on a car with a battery this size. A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter inside the charger. It measures your home charging separately from the rest of your household use. That way you know what a charge really costs you.

In our range that meter starts at 11 kW, on our EV chargers with a MID meter. On 11 kW the choice there is still limited, because most models in that category run at 22 kW.

Load balancing is the second feature. It lowers the charging current when the rest of the house draws a lot. That keeps the circuit breaker from tripping while the washing machine runs. Several EV chargers with dynamic load balancing handle that by themselves.

App control is the third, on our EV chargers with an app. You start a session, set a cheaper night window and follow the charge from your phone. If you need none of these extras, a basic model from our home EV chargers is enough.

The three-phase models that suit the G9 sit under our 11 kW EV chargers. The G9 has a Type 2 connection, just like these chargers. Models with a fixed cable plug straight in. With a socket model you also need a Type 2 charging cable. That cable is handy anyway if you also charge elsewhere.

How long does the XPENG G9 take to charge?

With an 11 kW charger you need roughly 8.5 hours to take the usable 94 kWh from empty to full. In practice you rarely arrive empty. Plug the car in during the evening and it is ready well before you leave in the morning. On the road the G9 uses DC fast charging, up to 300 kW thanks to its 800V platform. That is motorway territory, not something a home connection delivers.

Frequently asked questions

Does the XPENG G9 need a three-phase connection to charge at 11 kW at home?

Yes. The 11 kW AC charger in the G9 only reaches that power on a three-phase supply of 3x16 amps. On a single-phase supply the car charges considerably more slowly. How much power it takes on one phase is in your vehicle documents. Your electrician or local grid operator can tell you which supply your home has. They can also say what switching to three-phase would involve.

Why does a MID meter matter for the XPENG G9?

A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter inside the charger. It counts only the electricity that goes into the car, separately from your household use. With a 94 kWh battery that adds up quickly. You see per month what charging at home really costs. Chargers without that meter are usually cheaper, but you lose that insight.

Should I install the charger for my XPENG G9 myself or have it installed?

We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. It is safer and it matters for your insurance. Wallbox Discounter arranges installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, through a certified partner. In the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium you add it to your order. For Germany it runs through a free quotation. Outside those three countries we ship worldwide, but we do not install.
