How long does it take to charge the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 4MATIC?
The calculation is straightforward: an 80 kWh battery divided by 11 kW of charging power results in a charging time of approximately 8.5 hours from empty to full, including normal charging losses. If you connect the car at around 23:00, it will be fully charged again the following morning without requiring any special planning. With a single-phase connection, the EQC charges at a maximum of 7.4 kW and a full charging session takes approximately 12 hours and 45 minutes. During a journey, the EQC can use DC fast charging at up to 112 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 40 minutes.
The EQC uses a Type 2 connection, just like most modern EV chargers. At home, you can charge using the fixed cable or Type 2 socket on the charger. If you also want to charge the car at public charging stations without a fixed cable, it is useful to keep a separate Type 2 charging cable in the car.

A three-phase connection is required to achieve the maximum charging power of 11 kW. With a single-phase connection, the EQC charges at a maximum of 7.4 kW, regardless of the maximum capacity of the EV charger. If your home does not yet have a three-phase connection, you can request an upgrade from your grid operator.
Why can a MID meter be important for the EQC?
A MID-certified kWh meter accurately and verifiably records the electricity used during charging. This is particularly important when charging costs are reimbursed by an employer, leasing company or your own business. In the Netherlands, a compatible charger with a MID meter may also be used for ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands.
