StreetScooter Work L EV charger: which one is the best fit?
The StreetScooter Work L is an electric delivery van with a usable battery capacity of 40 kWh and a maximum AC charging capacity of 11 kW. This charging capacity determines which EV charger is suitable: a more powerful charger will not charge the van faster than 11 kW. Would you like to learn more about the other version? Which EV charger is suitable for the StreetScooter Work L?
The Work L charges at a maximum of 11 kW using a three-phase connection. An 11 kW EV charger is therefore the logical choice. A more powerful 22 kW charger will not reduce the charging time because the van itself cannot accept more than 11 kW. With only a single-phase connection, the charging power is limited to a maximum of 3.7 kW and charging takes considerably longer.
Almost all the EV chargers recommended below have an integrated MID meter. This certified electricity meter accurately and verifiably records charging consumption. For a commercially operated delivery van, this is particularly valuable for reimbursing or allocating charging costs to an employer, leasing company or business. In the Netherlands, a compatible charger with an integrated MID meter may also support ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands.
| Situation | Recommended EV charger | MID meter | Why? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard home charging | Alfen Eve Single Pro-line 11 kW | Yes | A robust three-phase EV charger that uses the full charging capacity of the Work L and records consumption with an integrated MID meter. |
| Business use or ERE registration in the Netherlands | Ratio io6 Pro 11–22 kW | Yes | The MID meter accurately records charging sessions for reimbursement. In the Netherlands, a MID meter is also mandatory for ERE registration. |
| Budget option | Besen 11 kW Type 2 | No | An affordable 11 kW EV charger, but without an integrated MID meter. It is therefore less suitable when certified consumption measurement, business reimbursement or ERE registration in the Netherlands is required. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands. |

How long does it take to charge the StreetScooter Work L?
With an 11 kW EV charger, the 40 kWh battery theoretically charges from empty to full in approximately 3.5 hours: 40 kWh divided by 11 kW. In practice, normal charging losses may make the session slightly longer. This is more than sufficient to prepare the van overnight for the following working day. With a single-phase connection, the charging capacity is reduced to a maximum of 3.7 kW and the charging time increases to approximately 11 hours. For daily commercial use, a three-phase connection combined with an 11 kW EV charger is therefore strongly recommended.
Installing your EV charger
We always recommend having the connection installed by a qualified electrical installer. This is safer and may be important for your insurance coverage. At Wallbox Discounter, you can arrange the installation together with your order, ensuring that the charger is connected correctly and in accordance with the applicable requirements. A professional installation is particularly important for a commercial delivery van that needs to charge reliably every night.
Frequently asked questions
Does the StreetScooter Work L require a three-phase connection?
Yes, when you want to use the full 11 kW charging capacity. On a single-phase connection, the Work L charges at a maximum of 3.7 kW, regardless of the maximum capacity of the EV charger. With a three-phase connection of at least 3 × 16A, the vehicle can use the full 11 kW and the battery can theoretically be fully charged in approximately 3.5 hours.
Why can a MID meter be important for the Work L?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that accurately and verifiably records charging consumption. For a commercially operated delivery van, this is particularly important when electricity costs must be reimbursed or allocated to an employer, leasing company, customer or your own business. In the Netherlands, a compatible charger with an MID meter may also support ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands.
