SEAT Leon e-Hybrid EV charger: which one fits best?
The SEAT Leon e-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid that charges at home with up to 3.6 kW on one phase. This page covers the 1.4 TSI generation built from October 2020 to July 2024. Because the on-board charger draws 16 A on a single phase, every charger from 3.7 kW gives it full power. The more useful question is which charger suits your next, fully electric car. Browse all SEAT EV chargers in our overview.
For the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
SEAT Leon e-Hybrid charging specifications (2020 to 2024)
Check your registration date first. SEAT launched a new Leon e-Hybrid in July 2024 under the same name. That car has a bigger battery, charges on three phases and does take DC fast charging. The figures below do not apply to it.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Model years | 1.4 TSI e-Hybrid, October 2020–July 2024 |
| Battery capacity | 12.8 kWh gross (10.4 kWh usable) |
| Max. AC charging power (home) | 3.6 kW (single-phase, 16 A) |
| Electric range (WLTP) | 58–64 km, depending on body style and wheels |
| Charging time with an EV charger | about 3.5 hours (empty to full; SEAT publishes 3 h 33 min to 3 h 42 min) |
| Charging connector | Type 2 |

Which EV charger suits the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid?
The Leon e-Hybrid charges at 3.6 kW, so the power rating of the charger changes little here. An 11 kW or 22 kW charger does not make this car charge any faster. It does not slow the car down either, because the Leon simply takes 16 A from one phase. That makes this a decision about your next car, not about this one. So pick a reliable, compact home EV charger that still suits a fully electric model.
Features matter more than power on this car. Dynamic load balancing lets the charger lower its power when your home draws a lot, so the main fuse holds. App control lets you start, stop and follow a charging session from your phone. Both exist at 7.4, 11 and 22 kW. Compare our chargers with dynamic load balancing and our EV chargers with an app.
An 11 kW charger gives this Leon its full 3.6 kW and is ready for a fully electric car. Compare all 11 kW EV chargers in our range. We ship worldwide, and we arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany.
How long does the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid take to charge?
The Leon e-Hybrid has a 12.8 kWh gross battery, of which 10.4 kWh is usable. On 3.6 kW you fill it from empty in about 3.5 hours. SEAT quotes 3:33, and that figure includes the charging losses. One charge covers the WLTP electric range of up to 58-64 km. DC fast charging is not possible, because this plug-in hybrid charges on alternating current only.
Frequently asked questions
Does the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid need a three-phase EV charger?
No. The Leon e-Hybrid charges on one phase at 3.6 kW, so a single-phase supply is enough. Three-phase means your meter box has three live wires instead of one. A three-phase charger works fine, but this car does not charge faster on it. It helps mainly when your next EV can take more power.
Why an EV charger with a MID meter for a plug-in hybrid?
A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter built into the charger. It measures the electricity you charge at home separately from your household use. So you know exactly what charging your car costs. At 11 kW that meter is the exception, and at 7.4 kW we have none at all. Almost all EV chargers with a MID meter are 22 kW models, which need a three-phase 32 A supply. For a plug-in hybrid that takes about 10 kWh a session, that meter is rarely worth moving up a power class for.
Does the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid need a socket or a fixed cable?
The Leon e-Hybrid uses a Type 2 connection, so a socket and a fixed cable both work. A charger with a socket needs a separate Type 2 charging cable. You unplug that cable and store it after every session. A model with a fixed cable has the cable attached, which is quicker in daily use. Pick the socket if you want to change cable length or charge another car.
