Porsche Taycan Turbo EV charger: which one fits best?
The Porsche Taycan Turbo charges at home with 11 kW of alternating current (AC) as standard. That power comes from the on-board charger, the charger built into the car. Some Taycan Turbo cars have a 22 kW on-board charger, and those charge twice as fast on a suitable EV charger. The other Taycan versions and Porsche models each have their own page in our overview of Porsche EV chargers.
For the Porsche Taycan Turbo we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
Does your Taycan Turbo have a 22 kW on-board charger? Then a 22 kW charger halves the charging time. Not sure which on-board charger your car has? Check your vehicle documents or the charging settings on the display.

Which EV charger suits the Porsche Taycan Turbo?
With the standard 11 kW on-board charger, an 11 kW charger gives the Taycan Turbo its full AC power. That needs a three-phase connection, a supply with three live conductors instead of one. A 22 kW model will not charge this car any faster, although it is ready for a future EV.
Only a car with a 22 kW on-board charger gets more out of one of our 22 kW EV chargers. You then need a three-phase connection with 32 amps per phase.
A built-in MID meter is worth considering too. This certified kWh meter records exactly how much electricity your car uses, separate from your household consumption. That way you always know what charging at home costs. Most of our EV chargers with a MID meter are 22 kW models. At 11 kW the choice is still small.
Charging takes several hours. With an EV charger with app control you schedule those sessions yourself, for example overnight. You then follow them on your phone. Our range of home EV chargers is a good place to compare models side by side.
The Taycan charges at home via a Type 2 connection. If you also want to charge elsewhere, you need a separate Type 2 charging cable.
How long does the Porsche Taycan Turbo take to charge?
With a net usable capacity of about 97 kWh, a full charge on an 11 kW charger takes around 9 hours. That fits easily into one night. A car with a 22 kW on-board charger can halve that. On a 22 kW charger with a three-phase connection it then takes about 4.5 hours.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Porsche Taycan Turbo need a three-phase connection?
Yes. With the standard 11 kW on-board charger, a three-phase connection with 16 amps per phase gives full power. For 22 kW with a 22 kW on-board charger, you need 32 amps per phase.
Do I need an EV charger with a MID meter for the Porsche Taycan Turbo?
You do not need one to charge, but it shows exactly what charging at home costs you. The meter records your car's electricity separately from the rest of your home. Most of our chargers with a built-in MID meter are 22 kW models, while the choice at 11 kW is still small.
We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician: it is safer and matters for your insurance. Wallbox Discounter arranges EV charger installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In Germany this runs via a free quotation.
