The Zappi wallbox from Myenergi preferably charges your electric car using solar power from your own roof. Three charging modes, ECO, ECO+ and FAST, work together with a CT clamp to determine how much surplus power is available and send exactly that power to your car. This means you feed less electricity back into the grid for a low compensation and drive more often on energy you generate yourself.

Wallbox Discounter supplies the complete Zappi V2.1 range: socket or fixed cable, 7.4 kW for single-phase connections and 22 kW for three-phase connections. Ordered before 15:00 means shipped today, with free shipping and expert advice. You choose whether to order the Zappi separately or including installation by a certified installer.

  • Zappi wallbox from Myenergi, the most complete solar charging station
  • Three smart charging modes: ECO, ECO+ and FAST
  • Suitable for single-phase (7.4 kW) and three-phase (22 kW) connections
  • Socket or 6.5-metre fixed Type 2 charging cable
  • Dynamic load balancing included as standard
  • Combine with the Harvi for wireless measurement

Who is Myenergi and what makes the Zappi different?

Myenergi is a British manufacturer from Lincolnshire that has focused on smart energy management around solar panels since 2016. The Zappi is its best-known product and is often described by self-generators as the most complete solar charging station. The Zappi does not only work as a regular wallbox, but also actively responds to the electricity you generate yourself.

The trick lies in a CT clamp around your main connection. It continuously measures how much electricity you are feeding into the grid or drawing from it. Do you have surplus power from your solar panels? Then the Zappi sends that power directly to your car instead of to your energy supplier. This allows you to use more of your own generation instead of feeding it back at a low price.

A second strong point: Myenergi has its own ecosystem. The Zappi communicates with the Eddi for your boiler, the Libbi home battery and the Harvi wireless sensor. Everything runs in one Myenergi app, so you can see from your phone what you consume, generate and charge. Comparing the Zappi with other models? Then also view our range of smart charging stations to see which functions suit your situation. Myenergi is working on V2H, vehicle-to-home, through ISO 15118, the communication standard between car and charging station that enables Plug & Charge and bidirectional charging. This could allow your electric car to feed power back to your home in the future, a logical extension of the existing solar ecosystem.

Zappi V2.1 models in the range

The Zappi V2.1 is available in four versions. You choose based on two points: power, 7.4 kW or 22 kW, and cable type, socket or fixed charging cable. The socket versions keep your wall looking neat because no cable hangs from the charger. The fixed-cable versions are useful if you come home with the same car every day.

The 22 kW versions also work on a single-phase connection; in that case, they charge at a maximum of 7.4 kW. Do you currently still have single-phase power but are considering switching to three-phase later? Then the 22 kW version is a future-proof choice. The 22 kW charging stations in our range are all suitable for heavier connections, and the 22 kW Zappi is the most complete solar version among them.

How does the Zappi work with solar panels?

Three charging modes determine how the Zappi handles your generated electricity. You can easily switch between the modes via the display on the charger or through the Myenergi app.

  • ECO: the car keeps charging until full. Is your generated electricity not enough? Then the Zappi supplements it with grid power, with a minimum of 1.4 kW per phase.
  • ECO+: the car only charges using surplus power from your solar panels. If generation drops below 1.4 kW, the charging session automatically pauses until there is enough sun again.
  • FAST: standard fast charging at maximum power, regardless of where the electricity comes from. Useful if you come home late in the evening and need the car fully charged by the next morning.

ECO+ is the favourite mode for most solar panel owners: you drive on electricity that you would otherwise have sold back at a lower feed-in tariff. Just do not expect your car to fully charge in this mode in January; during darker months, combine ECO+ with FAST or a dynamic energy contract, so you can top up with grid power during off-peak hours.

Want to get even more return from your system? Then also take a look at our charging stations with solar panels. The Zappi is the best known, but there are more smart chargers that adjust to your generation.

CT clamp and Harvi: how does the Zappi measure your generated energy?

A CT clamp, Current Transformer, is a sensor that you clip around an electrical wire. It measures how much current is flowing through it and sends that measurement to the Zappi. Based on this, your charger knows exactly how much solar surplus is available and how much your car may draw at that moment.

For dynamic load balancing, you need 1 CT clamp as standard with a single-phase connection and 3 CT clamps with a three-phase connection. The 22 kW versions include the set of 3 in the box; the single-phase 7.4 kW version includes one CT clamp. Do you also want to charge using solar power? Then order an extra set for your solar panels: 1 CT clamp for single-phase generation, 3 CT clamps for three-phase generation. This allows the Zappi to work as a charging station with load balancing and prevents your main circuit from being overloaded when your car is charging while, for example, the washing machine is running.

The CT clamp is wired: a thin 5-metre cable runs from your electrical cabinet to the Zappi. Does that not suit your situation? Then the Harvi is the solution. The Harvi is a small wireless sensor from Myenergi that can read up to 3 CT clamps and send the measurement wirelessly to the Zappi. The range is approximately 15 metres, and more in open air. The Harvi does not need its own power supply, because it draws energy from the cable it measures. Ideal if your electrical cabinet and solar inverter are in a different part of the house than your charger.

Installation: do it yourself or use an installer?

Are you experienced with electrical work and do you have a single-phase connection? Then you can install the Zappi 7.4 kW yourself using the supplied manual. For three-phase 22 kW installations, a certified installer is recommended, because the Zappi with dynamic load balancing is connected directly to your electrical cabinet.

Wallbox Discounter can also arrange the installation for you. Our installers work according to applicable installation standards and provide a 2-year warranty on labour. The standard price includes travel, connection in the electrical cabinet, wall drilling, up to 4 metres of conduit and 5 metres of groundwork.

Frequently asked questions about the Zappi wallbox

Do I need solar panels to buy a Zappi?

No. The Zappi works perfectly without solar panels: you mainly use FAST mode and the built-in dynamic load balancing. You only use the solar modes ECO and ECO+ once a generation CT clamp or Harvi is present.

Does the Zappi work with a dynamic energy contract?

Yes, the V2.1 supports dynamic tariffs. You can have the car charge during the cheapest hours by setting time slots in the Myenergi app. This combines well with ECO+ in summer and with off-peak charging in winter.

What is the difference between Zappi V2 and V2.1?

The V2.1 has a built-in hub for internet connection, allowing the charger to receive automatic firmware updates. With the older V2, you need a separate hub for this. The solar functionality and charging power are almost the same; the V2 is simply no longer available.
