Which EV charger is suitable for the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor?
Because the Dual Motor charges at home at a maximum of 11 kW, an 11 kW EV charger is the logical choice. A 22 kW charger can also be used but will not charge this vehicle faster because its onboard charger limits AC charging to 11 kW. Choose a charger with an integrated MID meter when the electricity charged at home must be reimbursed by an employer or leasing company. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme applies exclusively in the Netherlands.
| Situation | Recommended EV charger | MID meter | Why? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard home charging | Easee Charge Up 22 kW | No | A compact and intelligent EV charger with a Type 2 socket. It automatically charges the Polestar at its maximum AC capacity of 11 kW and offers additional capacity for a future vehicle. |
| Business use or ERE registration in the Netherlands | Zaptec Go 2 22 kW | Yes | The integrated MID meter accurately records the charged kilowatt-hours. This makes the charger suitable for employer or leasing-company reimbursement and, exclusively in the Netherlands, ERE registration. |
| Budget-friendly choice | Besen 11 kW | No | An affordable EV charger with a fixed Type 2 charging cable that provides exactly the Polestar’s maximum AC charging capacity. It does not have an integrated MID meter. |
The Polestar 3 uses a Type 2 connection. An EV charger with a fixed cable allows you to connect the car directly. When using a charger or public charging station with a socket, you need a suitable Type 2 charging cable. View all 11 kW EV chargers in our range.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor require a three-phase connection for 11 kW charging?
Yes. To achieve the full 11 kW charging capacity at home, you need a three-phase connection rated at 3 × 16 amps. With a single-phase connection, the car will normally charge at a maximum of 3.7 kW. A certified electrician and the local grid operator can determine whether your electrical connection needs to be upgraded.
Why is a MID meter important for the Polestar 3 Dual Motor?
A MID-certified kWh meter accurately records how much electricity is charged into the vehicle at home. This is particularly important when charging costs are reimbursed by an employer or leasing company or accounted for as business expenses. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme applies exclusively in the Netherlands. We recommend having the charger installed by a certified electrician so that the connection is safe and complies with the applicable standards.
