The Lucid Air Touring is one of the few electric cars that can use the full 22 kW of AC charging power at home. Most EVs stop at 11 kW on a home connection, but the Air Touring's powerful onboard charger takes the whole 22 kW, provided your charger and electrical installation can handle it. That makes your choice of EV charger extra interesting. These figures apply to the Air Touring of model years 2023 and 2024. Later model years have a slightly larger battery, while the 22 kW AC charging power stays the same.
Which EV charger suits the Lucid Air Touring?
Because the Air Touring accepts up to 22 kW AC, a 22 kW charger gives you the shortest charging time at home: a full battery in about five hours. On an 11 kW model the same charge takes around ten hours. For the full 22 kW you need a three-phase connection of 3 x 32 amps, which means power is supplied over three phases instead of one.
A built-in MID meter is worth considering too. This is a calibrated kWh meter inside the charger, so you measure the electricity you charge at home separately from your household use and know exactly what charging costs you. Our range has several EV chargers with a MID meter at 22 kW.
Because a 22 kW charger draws a lot of power from your home connection, our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing are a sensible choice. Load balancing means the charger continuously checks how much capacity is available and lowers its power when the rest of the house needs it.

How long does the Lucid Air Touring take to charge?
You work out the charging time by dividing the battery size by the charging power, plus a margin for charging losses. With the 92 kWh battery and a 22 kW charger, the Air Touring goes from empty to full in about five hours, a charging speed of roughly 110 kilometres of range per hour. On an 11 kW charger a full charge takes around ten hours. That is enough if you charge overnight, but if you want to top up quickly during the day, the 22 kW charger really pays off. On the road, the Air Touring fast charges on DC at up to 200 kW.

Does the Lucid Air Touring need a three-phase connection?
For the full 22 kW, yes: you need a three-phase connection of 3 x 32 amps. Without it, the car simply charges at a lower power and a charging session takes longer. We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician, because that is safer and matters for your insurance.
Why is a MID meter important for the Lucid Air Touring?
A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter in the charger. It records exactly how much electricity goes into your car, separately from the rest of your household consumption. That way you always know what charging at home costs you, and you have reliable figures if you need to settle those costs with someone else. In our view, a charger with a MID meter is the smart choice for almost every driver.
