How long does it take to charge the Tesla Model S 100D?
Using an 11 kW EV charger, the usable 95 kWh battery can be charged from empty to full in approximately 10.5 hours. When you connect the Model S 100D after arriving home in the evening, it will normally be fully charged by the following morning without requiring any special planning. With a 3x32A connection and a 22 kW charger, the onboard charger can use its full capacity of approximately 17 kW. This reduces the charging time to around seven hours. When charging during a journey, the 100D can use the Supercharger network with DC fast charging at up to 145 kW.

Does the Tesla Model S 100D require a three-phase connection?
Yes. To achieve the full 11 kW charging power, you need a three-phase 3x16A connection at home. With a single-phase connection, the charging power is limited to 3.7 kW, which means that charging the large 95 kWh battery takes considerably longer. When your home does not yet have a three-phase connection, you can request an upgrade from your grid operator.
Can the Model S 100D charge faster than 11 kW?
Yes. The 100D can charge at up to approximately 17 kW using a powerful 3x32A connection. This requires a 22 kW EV charger and a suitable electrical installation. For most drivers, 11 kW is sufficient because the vehicle has plenty of time to recharge overnight. The Tesla Model S 100D uses a Type 2 connection. A suitable Type 2 charging cable is mainly required when charging at public charging stations without a fixed cable.
Why is a MID meter important for the Tesla Model S 100D?
An integrated MID meter accurately and verifiably records how much electricity you use for charging at home.
