Citroën e-C4 X EV charger: which one fits best?

The Citroën e-C4 X charges at home with 7.4 kW on a single-phase connection as standard. That fills the usable 46.3 kWh battery in about 7.5 hours, including charging losses. An optional 11 kW three-phase onboard charger is available, which cuts a full charge to around 5 hours. Which EV charger fits best depends on your onboard charger and whether you want to log your consumption. Compare all options in our overview of Citroën EV chargers.

For the Citroën e-C4 X we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger fits the Citroën e-C4 X?

Because the standard e-C4 X charges single-phase at 7.4 kW, a charger from that category gives you everything this car can use. A heavier 22 kW charger will not charge it any faster, since the limit sits in the car itself. Did you order the optional 11 kW three-phase onboard charger? Then a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers lets the car reach its full 11 kW.

Almost every charger we recommend has a built-in MID meter, a certified kWh meter that logs exactly how much you charge. That matters. From 2026 in the Netherlands only, private drivers can earn back up to 500 euro per year through their energy supplier. This requires such a certified meter. You can compare models among our EV chargers with a MID meter.

How long does the Citroën e-C4 X take to charge?

You divide the usable 46.3 kWh battery by the charging power. At 7.4 kW single-phase, a full charge takes about 7.5 hours, including charging losses. With the optional 11 kW three-phase charger, that drops to around 5 hours. For most drivers this is no problem: you charge overnight and leave in the morning with a full battery.

The e-C4 X has a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. You only need a separate type 2 charging cable to charge at a public point on the road. At home you charge through the charger's fixed cable.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Citroën e-C4 X need a three-phase connection?

No. As standard, the e-C4 X charges single-phase at 7.4 kW, which suits a normal home connection. A three-phase connection only helps if you ordered the optional 11 kW onboard charger, which then reaches the full 11 kW.

Why is a MID meter important for the e-C4 X?

A MID meter records your charging use accurately, on a certified meter. From 2026 in the Netherlands only, private drivers can earn back up to 500 euro per year through their energy supplier. Businesses also need a MID meter to reimburse charging costs. We recommend a charger with a MID meter for almost everyone.

Should I have the charger installed?

We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, carried out by a certified partner. We strongly recommend professional installation: a qualified electrician connects the charger safely to its own circuit, which also matters for your insurance. We ship worldwide, but installation is limited to those three countries.
