XPENG P7 Wing Edition EV charger: which one suits you best?

The XPENG P7 Wing Edition sits at the top of the P7 range. It has two motors, all-wheel drive and the scissor doors it is named after. However striking the car looks, at home it charges through an 11 kW on-board charger, the charger built into the car itself. An 11 kW wall charger therefore gets everything out of this XPENG. At home you cannot charge it any faster. The XPENG EV charger overview covers the rest of the range.

For the P7 Wing Edition we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the XPENG P7 Wing Edition?

With a maximum AC charging power of 11 kW, an 11 kW charger is exactly enough. It uses the full charging speed of the Wing Edition. A 22 kW unit adds nothing at home, because the car caps itself at 11 kW. What separates the models in this class is not power but what they do while charging.

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It records what your car takes, separately from the rest of your household use. So you always know exactly what charging at home costs. At 11 kW the choice is narrower than at 22 kW. Models with a built-in meter do exist among our EV chargers with a MID meter.

App control is the second thing worth looking at on a car that charges for most of a night. You set the session to run on your cheapest hours. From your phone you check whether the car is actually charging. You will find models that do this among our EV chargers with an app.

Our EV chargers for the home are a good place to start if this is your first charging point. We always recommend having a qualified electrician make the connection, which is safer and matters for your insurance. We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and in Germany that runs through a free quote.

How long does the XPENG P7 Wing Edition take to charge?

The Wing Edition has an 82.7 kWh usable battery. On an 11 kW charger that works out at around 7.5 hours from nearly empty to full. In practice it takes a little longer, because of charging losses. Plug in during the evening. The next morning you leave with a full battery and over 500 km of WLTP range. Charging on one phase is slower: 3.7 kW at 16 A, or 7.4 kW if your connection carries 32 A. On the road, CCS fast charging takes you to 175 kW, but that is for long trips rather than for home.

Frequently asked questions

Does the XPENG P7 Wing Edition need a three-phase connection?

For the full 11 kW, yes. Three phases means a heavier connection that carries power over three live wires instead of one, at 16 A each. On a single-phase connection the car charges at 3.7 kW on 16 A or at 7.4 kW on 32 A. Charging then takes considerably longer. Whether you can move to three phases depends on your local grid connection.

Why does a MID meter matter for the XPENG P7 Wing Edition?

A MID-certified kWh meter records your charging accurately and separately from the rest of your household use. That gives you a reliable figure for what each session costs. On a car with an 82.7 kWh battery, one session is a large share of your monthly electricity use. A separate meter keeps that visible.
