Toyota Proace 50 kWh EV charger: which one fits best?
The Toyota Proace 50 kWh comes as City Verso, Verso and Shuttle. Across most of Europe all three carry the three-phase 11 kW onboard charger as standard, and that figure decides your choice. A more powerful charger adds nothing beyond it. In some markets the Verso is delivered with a single-phase 7.4 kW charger instead, so check your vehicle documents. Browse all Toyota EV chargers if you are unsure which model you drive.
For the Toyota Proace 50 kWh we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
Does your Proace have the single-phase 7.4 kW charger, or does your home have only one phase? Then a 7.4 kW EV charger matches what the van can actually take.

Which EV charger suits the Toyota Proace 50 kWh?
The Proace draws 11 kW on three phases, at 16 amps each. An 11 kW charger therefore matches it exactly. A 22 kW unit charges no faster, because the ceiling sits in the van rather than in the charger. On a single-phase supply the van charges at 7.4 kW over 32 amps, which adds around two hours to a full charge.
Beyond the power rating, three features are worth weighing up. A charger with a MID meter carries a certified kWh meter. It shows exactly what charging costs you, separately from the rest of your household use. In our range that feature starts at 11 kW, which is precisely where the Proace sits.
Dynamic load balancing means the charger watches how much power your fuse box has spare and lowers the charging speed when needed. That keeps your main fuse within its limit while a van charges overnight. A charger with an app lets you set charging times and follow a session from your phone. That helps when the van leaves early.
A wall-mounted charger works as well by the house as on a company yard. Our range of home EV chargers collects those models in one place.
The Proace has a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. A separate Type 2 charging cable is for chargers without a fixed cable, public charge points first of all.
We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In Germany that runs through a free quotation instead of a bookable product. We ship worldwide, but outside those three countries we do not install. Wherever you live, have the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer, and many insurers ask for it.
How long does the Toyota Proace 50 kWh take to charge?
Charging time follows from the usable battery and the charging power. With the standard 11 kW charger a nearly empty Proace 50 kWh is full again in about 4.5 hours. On a single phase at 32 amps it takes closer to 6.5 hours. Plug the van in at night and it is ready for a full working day either way. On the road a CCS fast charger, the standard plug for rapid public charging, takes you to around 80 percent in half an hour.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Toyota Proace 50 kWh charge at 11 kW as standard?
In most European markets, yes. Toyota lists the three-phase 11 kW onboard charger as standard equipment on the Proace range. Some markets also deliver the Verso with a single-phase 7.4 kW charger. Your vehicle documents settle it, and that decides the charging power you can reach at home.
Do I need a three-phase connection for the Proace?
For the full 11 kW, yes, at 16 amps per phase. On a single phase the van charges at 7.4 kW over 32 amps, which a normal domestic connection can supply. A full charge then takes about 6.5 hours instead of 4.5. Whether you can move to three phases depends on your country and your grid operator, so ask them what it costs and how long it takes.
Do I need an EV charger with a MID meter?
Only if you want a certified reading of what you charge. A MID meter is an approved kWh meter built into the charger. It records your charging separately from the rest of your electricity use, so the cost of a session is never a guess. On a company van that is the difference between estimating and invoicing.
