Because both versions charge at home at a maximum of 11 kW AC, a three-phase 11 kW EV charger is the logical choice. It allows you to fully utilise the car’s maximum home charging power without investing in a 22 kW charger that the Model S cannot use to its full capacity. Also consider functions such as app control, dynamic load balancing and an integrated MID meter. A MID meter accurately and verifiably records the charged kilowatt-hours. This is particularly useful for employer or leasing-company reimbursement and for documenting business charging sessions. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme applies exclusively in the Netherlands and is not available in other countries.

How long does it take to charge the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus / Performance?

The calculation is straightforward: approximately 95 kWh of usable battery capacity divided by 11 kW of charging power results in around 8.5 hours for a complete charging session from almost empty to full. If you connect the car at around 23:00, it will be fully charged again the following morning. If you only have a single-phase connection at home, the charging power is reduced to a maximum of 3.7 kW and a full charging session takes considerably longer. A three-phase connection is therefore strongly recommended for the large battery of the Model S.

Yes, if you want to achieve the full charging power of 11 kW. The car charges at home using three phases, so a single-phase connection provides a maximum of 3.7 kW. Do you not yet have a three-phase connection? You can request one from your grid operator. We always recommend having the connection installed by a certified installer, as this is safer and may be important for your insurance coverage.
