Mercedes-Benz eVito EV charger: which one fits best?
The electric Mercedes-Benz eVito charges at home through a Type 2 port. Its on-board charger takes a single phase and stops at 7.4 kW. Single-phase means the van draws from one phase of your home connection instead of three. The 41 kWh battery, the version covered here, then fills in about five and a half hours. Mercedes-Benz builds its electric vans with different batteries and chargers. The right charger varies from model to model, so choose your Mercedes-Benz and see its charging data.
For the Mercedes-Benz eVito we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers.
A three-phase 11 kW wallbox is the wrong choice here. On such a charger the eVito uses one phase of 16 A, which halves it to 3.7 kW. A single-phase charger set to 32 A gives you the full 7.4 kW, and a model with adjustable power does the same.
Charging specifications of the Mercedes-Benz eVito
These figures apply to the eVito with the 41 kWh battery.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Usable battery capacity | 41 kWh |
| Max. AC charging power (home) | 7.4 kW (single-phase) |
| Charging time with a 7.4 kW EV charger | approx. 5.5 hours |
| Charging connector | Type 2 (Mennekes) |
| Vehicle connection | single-phase |
Which EV charger fits the Mercedes-Benz eVito?
Because the eVito peaks at 7.4 kW on a single phase, a heavier charger buys you nothing. What it can cost you is speed: on a three-phase 11 kW model the eVito falls back to 3.7 kW. So the choice comes down to the features you want at this power level.
One feature the 7.4 kW range cannot give you is a built-in MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter inside the charger that counts only what the van takes. It tells you what charging at home costs you, separate from the rest of your household use. The certification makes that reading legally valid. In our range this meter starts at 11 kW: see our charging stations with a MID meter. On a single-phase eVito that is a real trade-off, because an 11 kW charger drops the van to 3.7 kW.
Load balancing is a different story: that you can have at 7.4 kW. The charger keeps measuring what the rest of the house draws. It lowers its own power to match, so your main fuse holds. That matters most in a home with a heat pump or an induction hob. You can find it in our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing, including at 7.4 kW.
The eVito has a Type 2 port. For public charging points on the road you need a separate Type 2 charging cable. At home you charge through the fixed connection of the charger itself.
How long does the Mercedes-Benz eVito take to charge?
The sum is simple: 41 kWh divided by 7.4 kW comes to about five and a half hours for a full charge. Plug the van in after a working day and it is ready the next morning. If you deliberately set a lower power because your fuse box handles that better, the charging time goes up. A mobile charger through a wall socket is useful as a backup, not as a daily method for a battery this size.
A wall-mounted charger is the usual setup for charging at home. Our EV home chargers cover the full range for this van, from single-phase models upwards.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Mercedes-Benz eVito need a three-phase connection?
No. The eVito charges on a single phase only, at up to 7.4 kW. A three-phase charger works, but the van then falls back to 3.7 kW. A single-phase charger at 32 A, or a model with adjustable power, gives you the full 7.4 kW.
Why does a MID meter matter for the eVito?
A certified kWh meter records your charging exactly, separate from the rest of the house. So you know what the van costs you to run, down to the kWh. For the eVito there is a catch: none of our 7.4 kW chargers carries one, since the meter starts at 11 kW. Weigh the certified reading against the charging speed you would give up.
Should an electrician install the charger?
We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. It is safer and it matters for your insurance. Wallbox Discounter arranges installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and nowhere else. In Germany it runs through a free quote instead of a booking. Outside those three countries you arrange an installer yourself: we ship worldwide, but we do not install worldwide.
