BMW iX1 xDrive30 EV charger: which one fits best?
The BMW iX1 xDrive30 charges at home with 11 kW of alternating current as standard. That is exactly the power most home wallboxes deliver. There is no need to hunt for an expensive fast charger for your driveway. The wider range of BMW EV chargers at Wallbox Discounter covers the other models on the same platform.
For the BMW iX1 xDrive30 we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the BMW iX1 xDrive30?
The iX1 xDrive30 accepts 11 kW AC as standard. An 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection is therefore the logical choice. Three-phase means a supply with three current groups, which this power needs. You charge the car full overnight without planning anything. Did you order the optional 22 kW on-board charger? Then a 22 kW EV charger charges faster still.
At this power you can also have a built-in MID meter, a certified kWh meter that records your charging accurately. It measures what the car takes separately from the rest of the house. You then know what your kilometres actually cost, instead of guessing from one household bill. Our EV chargers with MID meter start at 11 kW, which fits this car exactly.
A second feature worth having on a compact SUV that charges every night is dynamic load balancing. The charger reads how much current your house is using and adjusts the charging power on the fly. The oven and the washing machine never trip the group. Our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing handle that automatically. If you want to keep the choice simple, our home chargers are the place to start.
We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and nowhere else. Shipping is worldwide, installation is not. In the Netherlands and Flemish Belgium you add the installation to your order; in Germany you request a free quote first.
How long does the BMW iX1 xDrive30 take to charge?
The sum is simple: divide the usable 64.7 kWh battery by the charging power. With an 11 kW charger you land at roughly 6 hours for a full charge. Plug the iX1 in at 23:00 and it is ready in the morning. With the optional 22 kW on-board charger and a matching wallbox that halves to about 3 hours. On the road you top up with direct current at up to 130 kW.
The iX1 uses a Type 2 connection, like almost every modern charger. At home you charge through the charger's fixed cable. A separate Type 2 charging cable is handy when you also want to charge elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
Does the BMW iX1 xDrive30 need a three-phase connection to charge at 11 kW?
Yes. To reach the full 11 kW at home you need a three-phase connection. On a single-phase supply the charging power drops considerably and charging takes longer. Your grid operator can arrange a three-phase connection. We always recommend having the connection made by a certified electrician, which is safer and matters for your insurance.
Can the BMW iX1 xDrive30 charge faster than 11 kW at home?
As standard the iX1 xDrive30 charges at 11 kW AC. BMW offers an optional 22 kW on-board charger; with that and a 22 kW wallbox you can charge full in about 3 hours. Without the option 11 kW stays the ceiling, however powerful your charger is. The car sets the maximum, not the charger.
Do I need an EV charger with a MID meter for the iX1?
You need one as soon as you want to account for your charging precisely. That applies, for example, if you drive a company or lease car. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter in the charger, and it separates your charging from the rest of your household use. Without one you are working from a single household bill.
