Fisker Ocean Sport EV charger: which one suits you best?

The Fisker Ocean Sport charges at home with an AC power of 11 kW. That figure settles the choice of charger straight away. An 11 kW 3-phase charger gets everything the car has to offer. A heavier 22 kW model adds no speed at all. Our overview of Fisker Ocean EV chargers compares the versions side by side, and the brand page lists all Fisker EV chargers.

For the Fisker Ocean Sport we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Fisker Ocean Sport?

The Ocean Sport charges at 11 kW through a 3-phase connection, with the charger spreading the current across three phases. So pick an 11 kW charger: it is the sensible middle ground and it matches exactly what this car can take. Do check your supply first. The full 11 kW needs a 3-phase connection. On a single-phase supply the car still charges safely, but considerably more slowly.

A 22 kW charger is not worth the extra outlay here. The onboard charger of the Ocean Sport accepts 11 kW at most, so the car simply ignores the rest. Spend the difference on features instead.

Look for a built-in MID meter, for instance. That is a certified kWh meter, and it records exactly how much electricity goes into your car. You then know what charging at home costs you, separately from the rest of your household use. In our range this feature is available at 11 kW. You do not have to move up a power class for it. Compare the charging stations with MID meter to see which models have one.

Load balancing is the second feature worth having, and with a battery this size it earns its keep. The charger measures how much power your fuse box has left and turns the charging power down automatically. Your washing machine, dishwasher and oven can run at the same time without tripping the circuit breaker. Our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing all handle this.

At home the Fisker Ocean Sport charges through the charger's own fixed Type 2 connection. To charge it elsewhere as well, add a separate Type 2 charging cable.

How long does the Fisker Ocean Sport take to charge?

On an 11 kW charger you fill the 70 kWh battery from empty to full in about 6.5 hours. That means you charge overnight and drive off every morning with a full battery. A heavier 22 kW charger does not speed this up, because the car accepts 11 kW at most. On the road you top up quickly with DC rapid charging.

We can arrange the installation for you in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. Outside those three countries we do not install, although we ship almost all of our products worldwide. Wherever you live, have a qualified electrician make the connection: it is safer and it matters for your insurance. Local rules differ from country to country, so check what applies in yours.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Fisker Ocean Sport need a 3-phase connection?

For its full charging power of 11 kW, yes. On a single-phase supply the car does charge, but considerably more slowly, because it can then use only one phase. An electrician can check what your fuse box allows.

Do I need an EV charger with a MID meter for the Fisker Ocean Sport?

You do not have to, but it helps. A MID certified kWh meter records your charging at home down to the kilowatt hour. With a battery of this size that adds up quickly. You then see exactly what the car costs you to run, separately from your household consumption. Several of our EV chargers for home use come with one built in.
