Fiat 500e 3+1 EV charger: which one fits best?

The Fiat 500e 3+1 has the larger of the two batteries, 42 kWh. At home it charges at its full 11 kW over three phases. Three-phase means three separate live wires from your fuse box. This version therefore makes full use of a true 11 kW charger, unlike the smaller 24 kWh model. The 3+1 owes its name to the extra rear door on the passenger side. Under the bonnet it shares its drivetrain with the regular hatchback. You can also browse all Fiat EV chargers in our overview.

For the Fiat 500e 3+1 we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Fiat 500e 3+1?

Because the 500e 3+1 charges at 11 kW over three phases, an 11 kW charger gives this car everything it can take. A faster 22 kW model adds nothing, since the car never draws more than 11 kW itself. Instead, look at the features at that power.

Start with the meter. A built-in MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter, which means its readings are legally valid. Because it sits inside the charger, it separates the electricity you put into the car from the rest of your household use. That gives you proof of what charging at home actually cost you. We carry chargers with a MID meter at 11 kW, so you can have both the full charging speed and the reading.

Two more features matter for a car with this battery. Load balancing keeps you within the limits of your connection. The charger measures how much current is still free and adjusts its power to match, and our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing do that automatically. App control is the second one. A charge of three and a half hours is easy to move to the cheapest hours of the night. An EV charger with app lets you set that from your phone, and combined with the meter you also see what each session put into the car.

We recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer, and it matters for your insurance. We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. Shipping is worldwide, but the installation service is not. A certified partner does the work on our behalf, and you can read the conditions on our installation page.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Fiat 500e 3+1 charge faster than the 24 kWh version?

Both charge at a maximum of 11 kW AC, so the pace per hour is the same. The difference is the battery. The 3+1 holds 42 kWh, so it takes longer to fill completely than the 24 kWh Berlina. It also takes you a good deal further.

Do I need a three-phase connection for the Fiat 500e 3+1?

You do for the full 11 kW. With a three-phase connection and an 11 kW charger you charge at the maximum pace. On a single-phase connection the power drops to 7.4 kW. That still works fine, but the charge takes about one and a half times as long.
