Hyundai Inster Standard Range EV charger: which one is the best fit?

The Hyundai Inster Standard Range can charge at home at up to 11 kW using a three-phase connection. This determines the best choice for your situation: an 11 kW EV charger makes full use of the Inster’s charging capacity, while a faster 22 kW charger provides no additional charging speed because the car cannot accept more than 11 kW. For the Hyundai Inster Standard Range, we recommend choosing a charger from our range of 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger is suitable for the Hyundai Inster Standard Range?

The Hyundai Inster Standard Range can charge at home at a maximum of 11 kW using a three-phase connection. An 11 kW EV charger is therefore the best choice: it allows you to use the car’s full charging capacity without investing in a 22 kW charger that will not provide any additional charging speed for this Hyundai. When you need an accurate and verifiable record of the electricity used for charging, for example for reimbursement by an employer, a leasing company or your own business, choose an EV charger with an integrated MID meter.

How long does it take to charge the Hyundai Inster Standard Range?

The usable battery capacity is 39 kWh. Using an 11 kW EV charger, you can charge the battery from empty to full in approximately 4 to 4.5 hours, including charging losses. If you connect the car at 23:00 in the evening, it will be fully charged well before the morning. A single-phase connection provides no more than 3.7 kW, increasing the charging time to more than ten hours. A three-phase connection combined with an 11 kW EV charger is therefore the smart choice for this Inster.

The Inster uses a Type 2 charging connection, just like most modern EV chargers. At home, you can charge using either the fixed cable or the Type 2 socket on the charger. Always have the electrical connection installed by a qualified installer. This is safer and can also be important for your insurance coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Hyundai Inster Standard Range require a three-phase connection?

A three-phase connection is required to achieve the full 11 kW charging capacity. With a single-phase connection, the charging power is limited to 3.7 kW, which significantly increases the charging time. When your home does not yet have a three-phase connection, you can request an upgrade from your grid operator.

Why is a MID meter important for the Inster Standard Range?

A MID-certified kWh meter accurately records the electricity used during each charging session. This is particularly important when charging costs need to be reimbursed by an employer, leasing company or your own business. In the Netherlands, a compatible charger with a MID meter may also be used for ERE registration. ERE certificates are only applicable in the Netherlands.
