Which EV charger is suitable for the Audi Q4 e-tron 40?
Because the Q4 e-tron 40 charges at home at a maximum of 11 kW, a 3-phase 11 kW EV charger is the logical choice. A 22 kW EV charger can also be used, but it does not provide any additional charging speed for this vehicle because the onboard charger accepts no more than 11 kW.
If you need accurate and certified measurement of your charging consumption, you should also look for an integrated MID meter. It records the charged kilowatt-hours accurately and transparently. This is particularly useful when you use the Q4 e-tron 40 as a company or lease vehicle and want the charging costs incurred at home to be reimbursed by your employer or business. How long does it take to charge the Audi Q4 e-tron 40?
The usable 76.6 kWh battery can theoretically be fully charged in approximately seven hours with an 11 kW EV charger. When normal charging losses are taken into account, you should allow approximately seven to eight hours in practice. If you connect the vehicle at around 11:00 p.m., it will be fully charged again the following morning.
With a 1-phase connection, the charging power is lower and a complete charge therefore takes longer. The power that is actually available depends on the amperage of the connection, the electrical installation and the vehicle configuration. In everyday use, you will generally only recharge part of the battery, so the actual charging time is often considerably shorter.
The Audi Q4 e-tron 40 has a Type 2 connection, just like the EV chargers we recommend. You need a separate Type 2 charging cable for an EV charger with a socket or when charging the vehicle at a public charging station without a fixed cable.
