Choosing an EV charger for the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. It tells you exactly how much power went into the car at home. Both levels need a three-phase supply, and that is the one reason to pick more power than this car will ever draw.

Charging times for the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid
The sum is short. Around 11 kWh of usable battery divided by 3.3 kW comes to 3 hours and 20 minutes. Count on about 4 hours in practice, because part of the energy turns into heat instead of range. An 11 kW or 22 kW charger will not shorten that. The car limits itself, and it has no DC rapid charging at all.
The Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid uses a type 2 charging port, the plug type on almost every European charger. With a fixed-cable charger the cable is already attached, so you plug in and walk away. For charging away from home you need your own type 2 charging cable.
