Range Rover PHEV EV charger: Which one is the best fit?
The different Range Rover plug-in hybrid models charge at home on a single phase, but their maximum charging power varies by model and model year. Some versions charge at a maximum of 3.7 kW, while others can reach approximately 7 kW. This is important to know: an EV charger with a higher output will not charge your Range Rover any faster because the car determines the maximum charging power. For the Evoque, Velar and the larger Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, you should therefore choose an EV charger that matches the single-phase charging profile of your specific model rather than automatically choosing the most powerful charger in the range. Charging specifications by Range Rover PHEV model
The plug-in hybrid models differ considerably in battery size. The Evoque and Velar have a smaller battery, while the Range Rover Sport and the full-size Range Rover have a much larger battery. The maximum AC charging power can also differ by model and model year, so always check the specifications of your exact version.

All models charge through a Type 2 connection, which is the European standard. To charge your Range Rover while travelling or at another location, you will need a separate Type 2 charging cable. At home, you charge using the fixed cable or Type 2 socket of the EV charger.
Which EV charger is suitable for a Range Rover PHEV?
Because your Range Rover PHEV charges at home at a maximum of approximately 3.7 to 7.4 kW, depending on the model, you do not need a 22 kW EV charger to charge this vehicle more quickly. An 11 kW EV charger is nevertheless often the most sensible choice: it automatically supplies the maximum power that the vehicle can accept and remains future-proof if you later switch to a fully electric car with a higher charging capacity. Choose a charger with an integrated MID meter when the charged kilowatt-hours must be recorded for employer or leasing-company reimbursement or for business purposes. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme applies exclusively in the Netherlands and is not available in other countries.

How long does it take to charge a Range Rover PHEV?
The charging time can be calculated by dividing the battery capacity by the charging power. The Evoque P300e, with approximately 11.5 kWh of usable battery capacity, takes around three hours at its maximum AC charging power of 3.7 kW. The Range Rover Sport P440e has a much larger 38.2 kWh battery and takes approximately five hours at around 7 kW. If you connect the car in the evening, you can generally leave with a full battery the following morning. Some Range Rover PHEV models also support DC fast charging. The exact DC charging power depends on the model and model year.

No. Range Rover plug-in hybrid models charge at home on a single phase, with a maximum charging power of approximately 3.7 to 7.4 kW depending on the model and model year. A three-phase 11 or 22 kW charger will therefore not charge the car faster than its onboard charger allows. An 11 kW charger is still a practical and future-proof choice if you later drive a fully electric vehicle.
Why is a MID meter important for your EV charger?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that accurately and verifiably records charging consumption. It allows you to document charging sessions for reimbursement by an employer or leasing company and reliably account for business charging costs. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be required for ERE registration. The ERE scheme applies exclusively in the Netherlands. We always recommend having the connection installed by a certified installer, as this is safer and may be important for your insurance coverage.
