Nissan Ariya EV charger: overview per version

The Nissan Ariya comes in six versions. There are two battery sizes (63 and 87 kWh) and a choice between front-wheel drive and e-4orce all-wheel drive. Every Ariya charges at home through a Type 2 connection. What matters for your charger choice is the onboard charger. The 63 kWh comes standard with a 7.4 kW charger (22 kW optional). Which EV charger suits the Nissan Ariya?

Does your Ariya have the 22 kW onboard charger (standard on the 87 kWh, optional on the 63 kWh)? Then you only reach that power with a 3-phase 32A connection, which many homes do not have. In practice you then charge at 11 kW. An 11 kW charger is therefore the logical choice for most Ariya drivers with the 22 kW charger.

Do you have the standard 7.4 kW charger of the 63 kWh? Then your home charging power is 7.4 kW, and a charger that matches is enough. The version page shows the charging times for your version.

Almost every charger we recommend has a built-in MID meter, a certified kWh meter that records your charging use exactly. From 2026 in the Netherlands only, private drivers can earn back up to 500 euro per year through their energy supplier. A MID meter also lets you settle charging costs accurately with an employer or lease company. So a MID meter is a smart choice, not a luxury.

The Ariya charges through a Type 2 connection, like the chargers we sell. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable to charge at a public point on the road. At home you charge through the fixed cable of the charger.

Frequently asked questions about the Nissan Ariya

At how many kW does the Nissan Ariya charge at home?

That depends on the onboard charger. The 63 kWh comes standard with a 7.4 kW charger, the 87 kWh versions with a 22 kW three-phase charger. For the full 22 kW you need a 3-phase 32A connection, which homes rarely have. In practice you then charge at 11 kW. The version page of your version shows the exact charging times.

Is there a difference in charging between the 63 kWh and 87 kWh Ariya?

Yes. Both charge through Type 2 and up to 130 kW at a CCS fast charger. The difference is the onboard charger. The 87 kWh has a 22 kW charger as standard, while the 63 kWh charges at 7.4 kW (22 kW optional). The larger 87 kWh battery also takes longer to fill at the same charging power than the 63 kWh.
