Which EV charger is suitable for the Mercedes EQA 250?

Because the EQA 250 charges at home at up to 11 kW, a 3-phase 11 kW EV charger is the logical choice. You should also consider whether you need certified consumption measurement. How long does it take to charge the Mercedes EQA 250?

The EQA 250 has a usable battery capacity of 66.5 kWh. With an 11 kW EV charger, a complete charge from empty to full takes approximately six hours in theory. Normal charging losses may make the actual charging time slightly longer. Connect the car after dinner and it will be fully charged the following morning. If you only have a 1-phase connection at home, the charging power is limited to a maximum of 3.7 kW and a full charge takes more than 17 hours. In that situation, upgrading to a 3-phase connection may be worthwhile.

Does the Mercedes EQA 250 need a MID meter?

An EV charger with a MID meter is not generally compulsory for private charging, but it is useful when you want to record your charging consumption accurately and transparently. For a company or lease vehicle, a MID-certified energy meter makes it easier to reimburse charging costs incurred at home. In the Netherlands, a MID meter may also be necessary for ERE registration. Does the Mercedes EQA 250 need a 3-phase connection?

You need a 3-phase connection to use the full charging power of 11 kW at home. With a 1-phase connection, the EQA 250 charges at a maximum of 3.7 kW, which considerably increases the time required for a full charge. A qualified electrician can assess whether your fuse box is suitable for a 3-phase connection.

Can the Mercedes EQA 250 charge faster than 11 kW at home?

Not with a standard AC EV charger. The onboard charger of the EQA 250 accepts a maximum of 11 kW AC at home. A 22 kW EV charger therefore does not provide any additional charging speed. Faster charging is only possible at a DC fast-charging station, where the EQA 250 can charge at up to approximately 112 kW.

Should the EV charger be connected by an installer?
