Polestar EV charger: which model fits your car?
Which EV charger you need for your Polestar depends mostly on the charging power of your model. Most Polestars, like the Polestar 2 and the Polestar 3, charge at home at up to 11 kW. Which EV charger fits a Polestar?
Do you drive a Polestar 2 or Polestar 3? Then you charge at home at up to 11 kW. An 11 kW charger uses the full charging power of your car, without paying for more than you can use. Have a Polestar 4? That charges at up to 22 kW, so you get the most from a 22 kW charger on a 3-phase connection. A 3-phase connection is a heavier power supply that delivers more charging power than a standard single-phase one. Not sure about your connection type? Check your meter cabinet or ask your grid operator.
Preferably choose a charger with a built-in MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records your charging accurately. That is no detail: from 2026, private drivers in the Netherlands can earn back up to 500 euros per year on their home charging costs with such a meter, but that scheme applies from 2026 in the Netherlands only. Your Polestar charges at home through the fixed Type 2 connection of the charger. A loose Type 2 charging cable is only needed to charge your car somewhere else. We always recommend having the connection done by a certified installer, which is safer and important for your insurance. You can arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany.

Which charging power do most Polestar cars have?
The Polestar 2 and the Polestar 3 charge at home at up to 11 kW alternating current. An 11 kW charger uses the full home charging power of those models. The Polestar 4 is the exception: it charges at up to 22 kW and therefore benefits from a 22 kW charger on a 3-phase connection.
Why does a MID meter matter for my Polestar charger?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter in the charger. From 2026, private drivers in the Netherlands can earn back up to 500 euros per year on their home charging costs, but only with such a meter, and that scheme applies in the Netherlands only. Choose a Polestar charger without a MID meter and you miss that benefit. So preferably pick a model with a built-in MID meter.
