Peugeot e-5008 EV charger: which one suits you best?

The Peugeot e-5008 charges at home on a maximum of 11 kW of alternating current (AC). That applies to the Standard Range and the Long Range alike. So the choice stays simple: a charger above 11 kW adds nothing for this seven-seat SUV. The car sets the limit, not the charger. Wallbox Discounter has a separate advice page for each electric Peugeot model. If you are not sure which version you have, the overview of Peugeot EV chargers runs through every Peugeot model.

For the Peugeot e-5008 we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

The e-5008 takes up to 11 kW three-phase AC. Equipment can differ per model year, so check your vehicle documents or the display in the car.

Charging specifications of the Peugeot e-5008

The e-5008 comes with two battery packs. Both charge at the same power at home, but the Long Range takes longer because of its larger battery.

The e-5008 has a Type 2 charging port, just like almost every modern EV charger. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable for public charge points. At home you charge through the fixed connection of the charger itself.

Which EV charger suits the Peugeot e-5008?

Because the e-5008 charges at 11 kW, a three-phase 11 kW charger is the logical choice. Look for a model with a built-in MID meter, a kWh meter that is certified for billing. That meter records exactly how much power you charge at home, separate from your household use. So you always know what charging your car really costs.

A model with such a meter is available at 11 kW as well. The overview of EV chargers with a MID meter shows which ones carry it.

How long does the Peugeot e-5008 take to charge?

On an 11 kW charger the 73 kWh Standard Range goes from empty to full in about 8 hours. That figure already includes charging losses. The Long Range, with a usable 96.9 kWh battery, takes around 10.5 hours. The charging speed at home is set by the car, not by the charger. Plug the car in during the evening and it is full by morning, in both cases. On the road the e-5008 accepts DC fast charging up to 160 kW.

Does the Peugeot e-5008 need a three-phase connection?

To use the full 11 kW you need a three-phase connection at home, rated 3x16 amps. With a single-phase connection the e-5008 charges at up to 7.4 kW. Its on-board charger draws 32 amps on one phase. On a single-phase 16 amp circuit only 3.7 kW remains, so charging takes considerably longer.

Your grid operator can tell you what your connection allows and what an upgrade involves. If single-phase is all you have, the 7.4 kW EV chargers are the realistic option.

We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. Wallbox Discounter arranges installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and a certified partner carries out the work. Outside those three countries we do not install, so you arrange your own electrician. Shipping is a separate matter: we ship worldwide.

Frequently asked questions about the Peugeot e-5008 EV charger

Does the Peugeot e-5008 charge at 11 kW or 22 kW?

The on-board charger of the e-5008 accepts 11 kW AC at most. A 22 kW charger will not charge this car any faster, because the car sets the ceiling. An 11 kW charger is exactly what the e-5008 needs.

Why does a MID meter matter for the e-5008?

A MID-certified kWh meter records precisely how much electricity you charge at home. You see that figure separately from your household consumption, so you know what a full charge really costs. That is useful whether you drive privately or have to account for your charging sessions.
