Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace EV charger: which one fits best?
The Jaguar F-Pace P400e and E-Pace P300e are plug-in hybrids with a compact battery. At home they charge at 7.4 kW over a single phase, one of the power lines running into your home. That is AC charging, or alternating current. Your home supplies AC, and the car's on-board charger converts it to DC for the battery.
A small battery on a single phase makes your choice straightforward. Jaguar also builds the fully electric I-Pace. Our overview of the Jaguar EV chargers lists the models with their own charging figures.
For the Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger fits the Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace?
Both cars draw 7.4 kW from one phase, at 32 amps. A single-phase 7.4 kW charger therefore gives you their full speed. A heavier 22 kW charger adds nothing here, because the car sets the limit.
An 11 kW charger sounds like the safer buy, but it works differently. It delivers 16 amps on each of three phases, and these Jaguars use only one of them. That leaves 3.7 kW, so a full charge takes twice as long. Pick a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers only if you expect a three-phase car next.
The choice between 7.4 and 11 kW has one more side to it. A MID meter is a certified electricity meter built into the charger. Because it sits inside the charger, it keeps your charging separate from the rest of your household use. Because it is certified, the reading is legally valid rather than an estimate.
Chargers with that certified meter start at 11 kW in our range. No 7.4 kW model carries one. Does a certified record matter more to you than charging speed? Then compare the EV chargers with MID meter and weigh it against the halved charging speed. For most drivers of these two cars the battery is small enough that speed wins.
Both Jaguars have a Type 2 socket, the same connection these chargers use. A charger with a fixed cable plugs straight into the car. With a socket model you use your own Type 2 charging cable. Our home EV chargers are the models made for a driveway or a garage, an easy place to start.
How long do the Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace take to charge?
The small battery keeps charging short. The F-Pace P400e holds about 19 kWh and fills in roughly 2.5 hours on a 7.4 kW charger. The E-Pace P300e holds about 15 kWh and is ready in about 2 hours.
Plug in when you get home and you drive off on electric power again the same evening, or the next morning. On an 11 kW three-phase charger both times roughly double, for the reason above: the car uses only one of the three phases.

Frequently asked questions
Do the Jaguar F-Pace and E-Pace need a three-phase EV charger?
No. Both plug-in hybrids charge at up to 7.4 kW over a single phase, so a single-phase connection is enough. A three-phase 11 kW charger will work, but it halves their charging speed to 3.7 kW. It only makes sense if a faster car is coming.
Do I need an EV charger with a MID meter?
Only if you want to know exactly what home charging costs you, separate from the rest of your household use. A certified meter also holds up if someone else pays for your charging. Chargers with that meter start at 11 kW in our range, which is a step down in speed for these two cars.
We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and in Germany that runs through a free quote. Outside those three countries we ship the charger but do not install it.
