Fisker Ocean Ultra, Extreme and One EV charger: which one fits best?

Do you drive a Fisker Ocean in the Ultra, Extreme or One trim? Then you have a large battery and a serious home charger. All three share the same pack of around 106 kWh usable. All three charge at home at 11 kW over a three phase connection. That makes a three phase charger the logical choice. You use the full charging power and the car is full again by morning.

Good to know: Fisker stopped as a manufacturer in 2024. The Ocean keeps driving and still charges at home in the same way. Our overview of all Fisker EV chargers shows what each model needs at home.

For the Fisker Ocean Ultra, Extreme and One we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

The Ultra is the entry-level trim with dual motors. It uses the same battery as the Extreme and One. It also charges at 11 kW AC, so a full charge takes just as long.

How long does the Fisker Ocean take to charge?

A battery of just over 106 kWh divided by 11 kW works out at roughly 9.5 hours from empty to full. That sounds long, but you rarely charge from zero. Plug the Ocean in at night with thirty percent left and it is full well before morning. On the road you use DC fast charging, which adds hundreds of kilometres in a short stop. At home, 11 kW AC is exactly what you need for the overnight charge.

Which EV charger suits the Fisker Ocean?

The Ocean charges at 11 kW at home. A three phase charger at that power gets the most out of your car. A 22 kW charger does not charge it any faster, because the car sets the limit at 11 kW.

Look for a built-in MID meter as well. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records exactly how much you charge. You measure your charging separately from the rest of your household use, so you know what charging really costs. With a battery this size, your charging costs add up fast. Our range of EV chargers with a MID meter shows which models have one fitted.

Two more features matter for a car with a battery this large. Dynamic load balancing keeps an eye on the rest of your home. It turns the charge down when other appliances need the power, so your fuse box stays within its limit. App control lets you start a charge when electricity is cheapest. A basic home EV charger already covers the overnight charge, and the smart features are what you add on top.

The Fisker Ocean charges over a Type 2 connection, and so does every charger in our range. At home you charge through the fixed cable on the charger. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable at public points without a cable of their own.

Does the Fisker Ocean need a MID meter?

Not for charging itself, but it helps with your costs. A MID-certified kWh meter records your consumption accurately. That gives you a reliable figure for what you charge at home, separate from your household electricity. With a large battery like the Ocean's, consumption adds up fast. A charger with a built-in MID meter is therefore a sensible choice.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Fisker Ocean need a three phase EV charger?

For the full 11 kW, yes. Three phase is what lets the car charge at its maximum. Single phase still works, but more slowly. On a 32 A single phase charger the Ocean takes 7.4 kW. On a 16 A one it takes 3.7 kW. With a battery this size that difference adds hours. Whether you can add a three phase connection, and what it costs, depends on the rules of your local grid operator.

Can I still charge the Fisker Ocean at home now that Fisker has stopped?

Yes. Home charging runs over the standard Type 2 connection and an ordinary charger. That is independent of the manufacturer. Your Ocean keeps charging on any suitable 11 kW charger, whatever happens to the brand.
