Which EV charger suits the Mercedes EQE SUV 350+?
The EQE SUV 350+ takes its 11 kW through a three-phase connection, which brings power into the house over three lines instead of one. An 11 kW charger therefore gets the most out of the car, and a heavier unit will not charge it any faster. Did you order the optional 22 kW onboard charger? Then a 22 kW charger is worth considering, because it roughly halves the charging time.

How long does the Mercedes EQE SUV 350+ take to charge?
You work out the charging time by dividing the usable battery capacity by the charging power. With 90.6 kWh and an 11 kW charger you arrive at about 8.5 hours for a full charge, so if you plug the car in during the evening, it is full by the morning. With the optional 22 kW onboard charger that time roughly halves to just over 4 hours. On the road you use a DC fast charger, where the EQE SUV charges at up to about 170 kW.

Does the Mercedes EQE SUV 350+ need a three-phase connection to charge at 11 kW?
Yes. The 11 kW onboard charger only reaches full power on a three-phase connection with 3 x 16 amps. On a single-phase connection the car still charges at up to 7.4 kW when the circuit supplies 32 amps, and at 3.7 kW on 16 amps. A full charge then takes roughly 12.5 or 24.5 hours of pure charging time, a little longer once charging losses are included. A qualified electrician can tell you whether your home can switch to three-phase.
Why does a MID meter matter for the EQE SUV?
A MID-certified kWh meter records exactly how much electricity you charge. That shows you what charging the EQE SUV at home really costs, separate from the rest of your electricity bill. Do you charge a company car at home and settle the costs with your employer or leasing company? Then the meter gives you a reliable basis for that as well. Choose a charger without one and you miss that insight.
