Mercedes-Benz EQV EV charger: which one fits best?

The Mercedes-Benz EQV is the fully electric seven-seat MPV, with around 90 kWh of usable battery. At home it charges at up to 11 kW. That ceiling sits in the car, not in the charger. A three-phase charger supplies current on three phases at once, and the EQV uses all three of them. A 22 kW charger will not make it any quicker. For the Mercedes-Benz EQV we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

The charging profile of the Mercedes-Benz EQV

The EQV weighs over 2,600 kilos and carries a large battery. Even so, it charges on alternating current at the pace of an ordinary family car: 11 kW at most. That limit is built into the vehicle. A three-phase 11 kW charger is therefore exactly what the EQV asks for. Extra power at the wall changes nothing. The car charges through a Type 2 port, the standard connector on European EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Mercedes-Benz EQV?

Because the EQV stops at 11 kW, a three-phase 11 kW charger is the match. One feature is worth weighing for a van like this: a built-in MID meter.

MID stands for the European Measuring Instruments Directive, and a MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter. It sits inside the charger itself, so it counts your charging apart from the rest of your household use. The calibration is what makes that reading legally valid. You therefore know exactly what charging at home costs you.

We carry chargers with this meter at 11 kW and at 22 kW. Every one of them is three-phase. For the EQV the 11 kW models are the ones to compare, in our range of charging stations with a MID meter.

How long does the Mercedes-Benz EQV take to charge?

With around 90 kWh of usable battery the sum is straightforward. Divide 90 kWh by 11 kW and you land on roughly eight hours for a full charge. Plug the EQV in during the evening and it is ready for a full day by morning. On the road it accepts around 110 kW from a DC fast charger. That takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes.

Do you drive a different electric Mercedes van? We have charging advice for the delivery versions as well:

We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. We ship chargers worldwide, but we install only in those three countries. In Germany it runs through a free quotation instead of an order you place online. Wherever you live, have the connection to your fuse box made by a qualified electrician. That is safer, and it matters for your insurance.

Frequently asked questions about the Mercedes-Benz EQV

Is a 22 kW EV charger worth it for the Mercedes EQV?

No. The on-board charger of the EQV accepts 11 kW at most on alternating current. A 22 kW charger fills the EQV in the same eight hours as an 11 kW model. A three-phase 11 kW charger is what you need.

Why does a MID meter matter for the EQV?

The meter sits inside the charger, so it counts only what goes into the car. Its calibration makes that reading legally valid. For an EQV, which usually covers plenty of kilometres, that turns your home charging into a figure you can check.
