Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo EV charger: which one fits best?

The Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo charges at home at 11 kW as standard. An optional 22 kW onboard charger is available. The onboard charger is the converter inside the car, and it sets the ceiling for home charging. At a fast charger this 800 volt car takes well over 250 kW. At home you never exceed your onboard charger. Our Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo overview compares the versions, and the Porsche EV charger pages cover the other models.

For the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

These figures describe the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo built from 2021 to 2023. Porsche revised the Taycan in 2024 and gave it a larger battery. A newer car therefore covers more range per charge. The AC charging power did not change: 11 kW as standard, 22 kW optional. The charger advice on this page applies to both.

Which EV charger fits the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo?

Unless you ordered the optional onboard charger, your Taycan charges at 11 kW. An 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection suits that exactly. Three-phase means your electricity supply reaches the charger over three live wires instead of one. The car is comfortably full by morning. Did you order the optional 22 kW onboard charger? Then our 22 kW EV chargers roughly halve the time, provided your fuse box can carry it.

Look for a built-in MID meter while you compare. An MID meter is a certified kWh meter. It records every session to the kilowatt-hour, so you see exactly what a charge costs you.

From 2026 a Dutch scheme pays private owners back up to 500 euro a year on those costs. It runs in the Netherlands only, and only with a certified meter. An employer or lease company accepts the same reading without discussion. In our view an MID meter is no longer a luxury on any charger you buy today. Compare what is available in our EV chargers with an MID meter.

Two other features earn their keep on a battery this size. Load balancing means the charger watches how much current your house has left. It turns its own power down when other appliances run, so the fuse never trips. Our EV chargers with dynamic load balancing do this automatically.

App control lets you start charging when the electricity price drops. Our EV chargers with an app do exactly that. The Taycan itself charges over a Type 2 connector, like almost every modern charger. You only need a separate Type 2 charging cable for public charge points.

We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany. In Germany it starts with a free quotation rather than a booking. We ship worldwide, but installation stays inside those three countries. Elsewhere you order the charger from us and hire a qualified electrician locally. Always have one make the connection. It is safer, and many insurers ask for it.

How long does the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo take to charge?

On an 11 kW charger the usable 83.7 kWh battery takes about 9 hours from empty to full. A straight 83.7 divided by 11 gives 7.6 hours, and charging losses account for the rest. Plug in at 23:00 and the car is ready in the morning. With the optional 22 kW onboard charger you are looking at roughly 4.5 hours. In practice you rarely arrive home empty, so a night on the charger is almost always plenty.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo need a three-phase connection?

For 11 kW at home, yes. An 11 kW charger runs on three phases at 16 amps each. On a single-phase supply the car still charges, but at up to 7.4 kW, and a session takes longer. Your grid operator can tell you what your connection allows.

Why does an MID meter matter for the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo?

A certified kWh meter logs your charging officially, to the kilowatt-hour. You see what a session cost, and an employer or lease company can reimburse it without argument. In the Netherlands the same meter opens up the reimbursement scheme that starts in 2026. A full charge on this battery is 83.7 kWh, so the difference between a guess and a measured reading is substantial.

Can I charge the Taycan at 22 kW at home?

Only if your car has the optional 22 kW onboard charger. With the standard 11 kW unit you never charge faster than 11 kW at home. Not even on a 22 kW charger. Not sure which one you have? The onboard charger is listed in your Porsche specification.
