The Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo charges at home with up to 11 kW of alternating current (AC). If the car was ordered with the optional 22 kW on-board charger, it can charge at up to 22 kW. Which EV charger suits the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo?
The standard version charges at up to 11 kW at home. An 11 kW charger therefore already gets the most out of your Taycan. With the 22 kW on-board charger, a 22 kW charger roughly halves your charging time. A 22 kW charger on the standard car does no harm, but it will not charge faster than 11 kW.
A built-in MID meter is worth considering. This is a calibrated kWh meter that records the energy you charge at home separately from your household use. You then know exactly what charging your car costs. Most of our EV chargers with a MID meter are 22 kW models. At 11 kW the choice is smaller.
The Taycan often charges for several hours in a row. Load balancing helps here. The charger measures how much power the rest of your home uses and adjusts its output automatically. With an EV charger with an app, you control and follow every charging session from your phone.

The Taycan has a Type 2 connection, the connector used by most modern EV chargers. A matching Type 2 charging cable is only needed on the road, at a charging point with a socket.
How long does the Porsche Taycan 4S Cross Turismo take to charge?
A full charge fills the usable battery of 83.7 kWh. On an 11 kW charger, the charge time from empty to full is at least 7.6 hours. Charging losses add to that in practice, so expect around 9 hours. Plug in in the evening and the car is full by morning. With the optional 22 kW on-board charger, the theoretical minimum drops to about 4 hours. Keep in mind that a 22 kW charger never charges faster than your car's on-board charger allows.
Your home connection also sets the charging speed. On single-phase power, the Taycan charges at 7.4 kW with 32 amps, or 3.7 kW with 16 amps. Does your single-phase connection supply 32 amps? Then a 7.4 kW EV charger is the logical choice.
Does your fuse box affect your choice?
Yes. To charge at 11 kW or 22 kW, you need a three-phase connection. Do you also run heavy appliances, such as a heat pump or an induction hob? Then choose a charger with load balancing. It lowers the charging power when the house needs more, so your main fuse does not trip.
