V2G EV Charger
A V2G EV charger sends electricity from your car back to the electricity grid. Vehicle-to-Grid turns your EV into a battery on wheels. For this to work, your EV charger, your car and your energy contract must all support the function. At Wallbox Discounter, you will find V2G-ready chargers from Zaptec and Peblar, as well as models with hardware prepared for bidirectional charging.
What can Vehicle-to-Grid offer you?
With V2G, you can take advantage of differences in electricity prices. You charge your car when electricity is cheap and feed energy back when prices are higher or when your energy supplier rewards feed-in accordingly.
This is particularly interesting with a dynamic energy contract. The electricity price changes throughout the day, allowing you to time charging and feed-in more intelligently.
What do you need for V2G?
V2G only works when all three elements are in place:
- A V2G-ready EV charger with the correct hardware and software
- A car that supports ISO 15118-20 and bidirectional charging
- An energy contract or supplier that supports and settles electricity fed back to the grid
ISO 15118 is the communication standard between the car and EV charger. ISO 15118-2 supports functions such as Plug & Charge, while ISO 15118-20 expands the standard with communication for bidirectional charging. From 1 January 2027, additional European requirements apply to newly installed and renovated charging infrastructure. Choosing an ISO 15118 EV charger is therefore a sensible option if you want to prepare for future charging functions.
Which EV chargers are suitable for V2G?
The AC models below charge at up to 22 kW over three phases and include an integrated MID meter.
| Model | Power | Bidirectional | MID meter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bidirectional EV charger | 12 kW | Fully operational | No |
| Zaptec Go 2 | 22 kW | V2G-ready (ISO 15118-20) | Integrated |
| Peblar Business | 22 kW | Hardware prepared for V2G and V2H | Integrated |
| Ratio io6 Pro | 11–22 kW | Hardware prepared | Integrated |
The Zaptec Go 2 is the most competitively priced option, while the Peblar Business is aimed more at business use and charging card management. We also offer a bidirectional DC EV charger with a CCS2 connector.
Buy your V2G EV charger separately or with installation
You can order your V2G EV charger separately or together with installation by our regular installation partner. We recommend having the connection completed by a qualified installer. This is safer and can also be important for your insurance coverage.
Frequently asked questions about V2G charging
Why is a MID meter important?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that accurately records how much electricity is charged through the EV charger. This is particularly useful for company cars, lease vehicles and other situations where home charging costs need to be reimbursed or settled accurately. In the Netherlands, a MID meter is also relevant for ERE registration. The ERE scheme is only available in the Netherlands.
Which cars support V2G?
The Renault 5 E-Tech is one of the first models to support bidirectional charging functions. Manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Hyundai and Kia are also preparing various models for bidirectional charging or adding functionality through software. Not every vehicle supports V2G through an AC EV charger, so always check the specifications of your exact model and model year.
What is the difference between V2G and V2H?
V2G sends electricity from the vehicle back to the public grid, while V2H supplies electricity only to your own home. Whether a bidirectional EV charger supports both functions depends on the charger, the vehicle and the energy system being used.
