Zaptec EV Chargers with MID meter
A Zaptec EV Charger with MID meter accurately records every charged kWh and complies with European measurement regulations. This makes it suitable for ERE registration, business reimbursement and shared charging points. At Wallbox Discounter, you can choose from the Zaptec Go 2 and the Zaptec Pro, both with an integrated MID meter and 22 kW charging power. Both models can be ordered separately or directly including installation by a certified installer.
What is a Zaptec EV Charger with MID meter?
A MID meter is a kWh meter that complies with the European Measuring Instruments Directive. This means the measured values are officially reliable and may be used for reimbursement with your employer, leasing company or energy provider. Without a MID meter, your EV charger may not provide those values as legally valid measurement data.
Zaptec integrates the MID meter as standard in the Zaptec Go 2 and the Zaptec Pro. This means you do not need a separate intermediate meter in your electrical cabinet. That reduces installation costs and keeps your setup clear and simple.

Both models work with Zaptec’s own app, support Plug & Charge and are prepared for charging with a dynamic energy contract. An RFID card for locking charging sessions is optionally available.
ISO 15118: Plug & Charge and V2G in one standard
Plug & Charge with Zaptec works through ISO 15118, the communication standard between vehicle and EV charger. Your vehicle identifies itself securely to the charger as soon as you plug in the cable, so the charging session starts without a charging card or app. The MID meter immediately links the session to the specific vehicle, which is useful for leasing drivers and shared charging points. The Zaptec Go 2 is also hardware-prepared for ISO 15118-20, the extension that enables V2G and V2H. Once your vehicle and energy provider also support this, the charger can feed electricity back to your home or the grid.
Load balancing with Zaptec Sense
Both Zaptec EV Chargers work together with Zaptec Sense for dynamic load balancing. Zaptec Sense is a small accessory that connects to the P1 port of your smart meter using a standard RJ-45 cable. It reads your current electricity consumption and automatically adjusts charging power. This prevents your circuit from overloading when the washing machine, dishwasher and oven are running at the same time.
Do you have multiple Zaptec Pro chargers at one location? The system automatically distributes the available power across all charging points in the cluster. This allows you to scale an installation from two home charging points to a large office fleet without having to upgrade the main grid connection.
ERE registration with your Zaptec EV Charger
From 2026, the ERE scheme allows you to receive compensation in the Netherlands for every kWh you charge at home into an electric vehicle. ERE stands for emission reduction units: certificates that are sold through a booking service provider, such as ere-registratie.nl. The compensation is around 10 cents per charged kWh.
The condition: your EV charger must have a MID-certified meter and your charging sessions must be registered with a booking service provider. The Zaptec Go 2 and Zaptec Pro both meet this requirement. Registration can also be applied retroactively to 1 January 2026, meaning previously charged kWhs can also count.
Who is a Zaptec MID EV Charger suitable for?
- Private users with a lease car who want to reimburse charging costs through their employer
- Households that want to register charging sessions for ERE certificates
- Business users and apartment associations that want to connect multiple charging points with load balancing on one connection
- Operators of public charging points who want to bill users via charging cards or an app
Frequently asked questions about Zaptec EV Chargers with MID meter
Do I absolutely need a MID meter for ERE certificates?
Yes. A booking service provider may only register kWhs measured by a MID-certified meter. A standard kWh meter in your EV charger or electrical cabinet does not meet this requirement.
Can I use the Zaptec Go 2 for V2G later?
The Zaptec Go 2 hardware is prepared for vehicle-to-grid according to ISO 15118-20. This means the charger can support bidirectional charging in the future, once your vehicle and energy provider support it as well. At the moment, V2G is not yet practically available in most electrical cabinets and households.
Does Zaptec Sense work in every electrical cabinet?
Zaptec Sense connects to the P1 port of a smart meter from SMR version 5 onwards. This is the standard in the Netherlands. If you have an older meter, first ask your grid operator for a replacement.
How many Zaptec Pro chargers can I connect together?
The Zaptec Pro is built for cluster installations. In a cluster, the chargers automatically distribute the available power, allowing you to scale significantly on one main connection. The exact number depends on your grid connection and the configuration in the Zaptec Portal.
