Which car and EV charger is this cable suitable for?

Almost all modern electric cars in Europe have a Type 2 charging port. Public charging points and home EV chargers also work with Type 2. Do you drive an older or Asian car with a Type 1 connection? 5 metre Type 2 charging cable: the right power

The power determines your charging time. With a 1-phase connection, you can charge up to 7.4 kW. If you have a 3-phase connection, meaning three phases at the same time, you choose 11 kW or 22 kW. The cable can never pass through more power than your car or charging point can handle, so match the power to your own situation.

Ready for Plug & Charge and the ISO 15118 standard

From 1 January 2027, new EV chargers in the EU must support the ISO 15118-20 standard. This standard regulates communication between the car and EV charger and enables Plug & Charge: charging without a card or app, plus bidirectional charging (V2G, feeding power back from your car). The Type 2 cable specifically carries the communication conductor used for this, so this cable is ready for the future.

Does a Type 2 cable fit my car?

Almost every modern EV has a Type 2 port. If you have a Type 1 car, choose a Type 1 to Type 2 cable. If in doubt, check your car’s manual.

Is 5 metres long enough?

For most home situations, yes. Five metres easily bridges the distance between the charging point and charging port and gives you slack when your parking spot changes.
