A 5 meter charging cable is the most popular length for home use. Five meters easily bridges the distance between your charging point and your car’s charging port, even if your car is parked the other way around or slightly further away. At Wallbox Discounter, you will find 5 meter charging cables with a Type 2 connection, from 3.7 to 22 kW, from brands such as Loady, Myenergi and Ratio Electric.

Why 5 meters is the safe choice

With 5 meters, you are almost always on the safe side. You do not have to puzzle over the position of your car and you have enough slack for a changing parking spot. A shorter 3 meter charging cable is neater when the charging point is right next to the car, but gives you less freedom. If you need to bridge a greater distance, for example to a charging point on the other side of the driveway, take a look at a 10 meter charging cable.

Which charging power suits you?

The 5 meter cable is available in several power ratings. On a 1-phase connection, you can charge up to 7.4 kW, enough for relaxed overnight charging. If you have three phases at the same time, also known as a 3-phase connection, you can reach 11 kW or 22 kW and your car charges faster. Do check what your own car accepts, because not every EV supports 22 kW.

Ready for Plug & Charge and the ISO 15118 standard

From 1 January 2027, new EV chargers in the EU must support the ISO 15118-20 standard. This standard enables Plug & Charge: charging without a card or app, and in the future also bidirectional charging (V2G, feeding power back from your car). A Type 2 charging cable contains the communication conductor used by these functions, so your 5 meter cable will be ready for this too.

Order separately or complete with EV charger

You can order the 5 meter charging cable separately, as a fixed cable for home use or as a spare cable. Do you want a complete home solution? Then view our EV chargers, optionally including installation by a certified installer.
