Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid EV charger: which one fits best?
The Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid comes with two battery sizes, and the difference mainly shows in its electric range. Older versions drive about 50 kilometres on electricity. The later Recharge version manages up to about 90 kilometres on a full battery. On a single phase, both charge at home at up to 3.7 kW. Want to compare other models first? Our Volvo EV charger overview covers every model.
For the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.
Check your vehicle documents or the car's display to see which on-board charger your V60 has. Depending on the version, it charges faster on a three-phase connection.

Which EV charger fits the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid?
On a single phase, the V60 plug-in hybrid charges at 3.7 kW, whatever the power of your charger. A 22 kW charger will not charge it faster than an 11 kW charger either. Depending on the version, your V60 may have a stronger on-board charger that works faster on a three-phase connection.
For most drivers we recommend an 11 kW charger. It uses a three-phase connection, so it gets the most out of every version of the V60. It is also ready for a fully electric car later. The price difference with a simple single-phase charger is often small.
Consider a charger with a built-in MID meter too. That is a certified kWh meter. It records exactly how much electricity you charge at home, separate from your household use. You always know what charging really costs you. In our range, the EV chargers with MID meter are three-phase models of 11 kW or more.
The V60 plug-in hybrid has a Type 2 connection, just like the modern chargers in our range. Want to charge the car away from home as well? Then a matching Type 2 charging cable comes in handy. At home you charge through the fixed connection of the charger. Browse all 11 kW EV chargers in our range, or start with our home chargers.
We also arrange EV charger installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany.
How long does the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid take to charge?
Divide the usable battery capacity by the charging power, then add some charging losses. The later Recharge version has 18.8 kWh in total, of which 14.9 kWh is usable. At 3.7 kW that is 4 hours on paper and about 4.5 hours in practice. An older V60 with a smaller battery (11.6 kWh gross) charges in about 3 hours.
According to Volvo, the current T6 AWD version charges from empty to full in about 3 hours. That requires a three-phase 16 A connection. Plug it in at night and it is full by morning either way.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid need a three-phase charger?
No. The V60 plug-in hybrid charges at 3.7 kW on a single phase, so a single-phase connection is technically enough. We often still recommend an 11 kW charger. It is ready for a fully electric car later and barely differs in price. Versions with a stronger on-board charger also charge faster on it.
Why is a MID meter important for the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid?
A MID meter records exactly how much electricity you charge at home. That gives you a reliable figure for your charging costs, separate from your household consumption. Do you drive a company car? Then the meter reading is also a solid basis for settling costs with your employer or lease company.
Can the Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid use fast charging?
No. The V60 plug-in hybrid only charges with alternating current (AC) and has no connection for DC fast charging. You charge it at home with an EV charger or a socket, or at a public AC charging point.
