Citroën C-Zero EV charger: which one fits best?

The Citroën C-Zero charges at up to 3.7 kW through a single-phase connection. That is modest next to modern EVs, and it has a pleasant upside. For the Citroën C-Zero we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers. A single-phase 7.4 kW model already gives the car its full 3.7 kW. A heavier 11 kW or 22 kW charger does not charge it any faster.

The C-Zero has a Type 1 inlet, while almost every wallbox in Europe uses a Type 2 plug. If you choose a charger with a socket, you connect it with a Type 1 to Type 2 charging cable in the 3.7 kW version. The car sets the pace, so a heavier cable or charger does not charge faster.

Which EV charger suits the Citroën C-Zero?

Because the C-Zero never charges faster than 3.7 kW, you do not need a heavy charger. A 7.4 kW single-phase model fits it exactly. An 11 kW charger works too, but it does not charge this car faster.

How long does the Citroën C-Zero take to charge?

With the 14.5 kWh usable battery and 3.7 kW of power, the sum is simple. That works out to about 4 hours, and closer to 5 once you allow for charging losses. Plug the car in overnight and it is ready well before morning, even on an ordinary single-phase connection. On the road you top up through the CHAdeMO fast charger. It takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about half an hour.
