Mitsubishi EV charger: which model fits your car?
Do you drive one of the Mitsubishi models we cover? Then your car charges at home at a modest rate. The Outlander PHEV, the Eclipse Cross PHEV and the compact i-MiEV all charge at up to 3.7 kW. They do that with alternating current (AC), over an ordinary single-phase connection. That connection uses one live wire instead of three. Which EV charger fits a Mitsubishi?
The Outlander PHEV, the Eclipse Cross PHEV and the i-MiEV all charge at home at 3.7 kW at most. That modest speed is deliberate: a plug-in hybrid has a small battery and is full within a few hours. Our smallest fixed option, the 7.4 kW EV chargers, is therefore already more than enough. Even a portable home charger on 16 A gives these cars the same 3.7 kW. A heavier charger does not charge the car faster, because the car itself sets the limit.

That is also the point at which a built-in MID meter comes within reach. A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter, so its readings count as official. It shows you exactly what charging at home costs, separately from the rest of your household. In our range that meter currently starts at 11 kW and is always three-phase. We always recommend having the connection made by a qualified electrician. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. Rules differ per country, so check what applies where you live before you install.

What charging power do most Mitsubishi cars have?
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Eclipse Cross PHEV and i-MiEV all charge at home at a maximum of 3.7 kW of alternating current, over a single-phase connection. A charger with more power does not charge these cars faster, because the car sets the limit itself. A single-phase charger, or even a portable home charger, is therefore enough.
Does my Mitsubishi have a Type 1 or Type 2 plug?
That differs per model. The Outlander PHEV and the i-MiEV use a Type 1 (Yazaki) connection, while the Eclipse Cross PHEV has a Type 2 (Mennekes) connection. For a Type 1 car you choose a charger with a socket and a matching Type 1 charging cable. You will find the right combination per car on the model page.
