Frequent asked questions
How to get RFID card for EV charging?
Getting an RFID card for EV charging is easy. Simply place the Loady Charge Card in your shopping basket and complete your order. The card is available for a small fee and includes registration for our subscription service. Once you receive the card, you can activate it through our app or website. The app also lets you track your charging history, view costs, and find available charging stations.
Can I charge my car without a RFID card?
Yes, many public EV chargers support alternative ways to start a charging session. You can often use a smartphone app, QR code, or even contactless payment (credit/debit card). However, not all chargers support these methods, especially older or private stations so carrying an RFID card is still useful for broad compatibility.
Can I use my phone instead of RFID card?
Yes, most charging networks offer mobile apps that act as digital alternatives to an RFID card. With these apps, you can start and stop charging, monitor progress, and even pay directly. Some phones also support NFC or Apple Wallet integration, letting you tap your phone at the charger, if the hardware allows it. This is convenient but not always available at every charging point, so a physical RFID card is still a good backup.
Do all cars have RFID?
No, not all EVs come with built-in RFID capabilities. The RFID technology is part of the charging system, not the car itself. Most RFID use is tied to external cards or fobs that link to your charging account. Some newer EVs and home charging setups do support automatic user recognition or authorization via apps or vehicle IDs, but this is not yet universal.
