A NexBlue EV charger delivers up to 22 kW and already supports the communication standard that will become the norm from 2027. Swedish brand NexBlue builds its chargers around a single modular backplate system. This system works just as well for one charger on a driveway as it does for an entire car park. At Wallbox Discounter, you will find the complete range with a Type 2 socket.

Which NexBlue EV charger is right for you?

All NexBlue models charge at up to 22 kW and work on both single-phase and 3-phase connections. A 3-phase connection allows the charger to deliver its full power. The main differences come down to two questions: do you want certified measurement of charging consumption, and how many charging points should the system manage?

ISO 15118 and what changes on 1 January 2027

ISO 15118 is the communication standard that allows your car and EV charger to communicate directly with each other. This enables Plug & Charge: plug in the cable and the charging session starts automatically. No charging card and no app.

From 1 January 2027, newly installed or renovated charging points in Europe must comply with EN ISO 15118-20:2022. This applies to private charging points at home as well as business and public charging locations. The entire NexBlue range is already designed around this standard. Edge 2 and Edge Max support both ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20. They are prepared for bidirectional charging, although actual use of this function also depends on the vehicle, software and applicable regulations. In addition to NexBlue, brands such as Easee, Zaptec and Tesla also offer EV chargers with ISO 15118.

Only the Max models have a MID meter

A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records how much electricity passes through the charger. Edge Max and Delta Max include one, with an accuracy of ±1% and an OLED display. Edge 2 and Delta do not have this MID certification.

In the Netherlands, electricity charged at home can also be included in ERE registration through an authorised registration service provider. The value is not fixed because the ERE price is market-based. The ERE scheme is only available in the Netherlands. A MID-certified meter is generally required, unless a separate allocation point is available through the grid operator. A MID meter is also useful for company and lease cars when home charging costs need to be reimbursed. Alfen, Easee and Zaptec also offer EV chargers with a MID meter.

Load balancing and load management

With load balancing, the system measures how much power is still available in your electrical installation and adjusts charging power accordingly. This prevents the main connection from being overloaded when other high-power appliances are being used. Load management distributes the available power across multiple chargers. The Edge series can manage up to five chargers per location itself. The Delta series uses Nexus to manage an unlimited number of charging points, including across multiple circuits. The NexBlue Zen is required for dynamic load balancing, solar charging and automatic phase switching.

Frequently asked questions about NexBlue EV chargers

Does every NexBlue EV charger have a MID meter?

No. Edge Max and Delta Max have an integrated MID meter, while Edge 2 and Delta do not. If you want certified measurement for reimbursement of a company or lease car, choose a Max model. In the Netherlands, a MID meter is also relevant when you want charging sessions to qualify for ERE registration. The ERE scheme is only available in the Netherlands.

Is a charging cable included?

No. All NexBlue models have a socket. You choose your own Type 2 charging cable in the required length.

Do I need to replace my current EV charger before 2027?

No. The requirement applies to charging points newly installed or renovated from 1 January 2027. A charger that is already installed by then can remain in use.
