StreetScooter Work EV charger: which one fits best?
The StreetScooter Work charges through a Type 2 connector at up to 11 kW alternating current. It draws that power over three phases, so a three-phase charger fills the van in about two hours. For a delivery van that works by day and stands still at night, overnight charging at the depot or at the driver's home is the practical choice. The StreetScooter Work uses a Type 2 connector. You only need a matching Type 2 charging cable with a socket charger. A charger with a fixed cable already has one attached.
Which charger suits the StreetScooter Work?
The van draws 11 kW at most, so an 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection is the logical choice. A more powerful charger will not charge it any faster, and a slower one is not needed. It is worth looking for a charger with a built-in MID meter, a MID-certified kWh meter that measures your charging use accurately. At 11 kW the choice is still limited. Most chargers with a MID meter are 22 kW models, but one adjustable model does cover 11 kW. A business driver needs such a meter to bill the van's charging sessions.

How long does the StreetScooter Work take to charge?
With the 20 kWh battery the sum is simple. Divide 20 kWh by 11 kW and you land on about two hours for a full charge. Plug the van in after the last run at 18:00 and it stands ready well before the next day. On a single-phase connection the power drops to 3.7 kW. A full charge then takes about five and a half hours, still fine for a night. The 40 kWh Work L needs around four hours at 11 kW.
Connection in the meter box
You only reach the full 11 kW with a three-phase connection. If the depot or the home has one, the Work charges without limits. Do other heavy appliances run at the same time, such as a heat pump? Then choose a charger with dynamic load balancing. That feature keeps measuring how much power is free in the meter box and adjusts the charging speed, so your main fuse never trips.
