A 60D comes with an 11 kW onboard charger as standard. A rare few were ordered back then with the optional 16.5 kW charger on a 3x32A connection. Not sure which version you have? Then assume 11 kW, because that is by far the most common. Good to know: the car sets the maximum, not the charger. Put down a 22 kW charger and a standard 60D still charges at 11 kW.
Which charger fits the Tesla Model S 60D?
With 11 kW of charging power almost any modern three-phase charger at home serves you well. When you choose, pay attention to the MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. Nearly every charger we recommend has one. That is no coincidence. From 2026 in the Netherlands only, private drivers can earn back up to 500 euro per year on home charging. This runs through their energy supplier. It works only with a charger that has a MID meter. The Model S 60D has a Type 2 connection, just like most modern chargers. At home you charge through the charger's fixed cable. Do you want to charge elsewhere too? Then you need a matching Type 2 charging cable.
How long does the Tesla Model S 60D take to charge?
Divide the usable 62 kWh battery by the charging power to get the raw figure. At 11 kW that math gives roughly 5.6 hours. In practice you charge a little slower, because some energy is lost as heat. Count on about 6.5 hours from empty to full. Plug in at 11 pm and you drive off with a full battery in the morning. Do you have the rare example with the 16.5 kW charger and a 3x32A connection? Then you are closer to 4.5 hours. For daily use 11 kW is plenty, even though this is not the fastest charger in the Tesla family.

Yes, to charge at the full 11 kW at home you need a three-phase connection with 3x16 amps. On a single-phase connection the power drops to 3.7 kW and charging takes longer. Your grid operator can arrange a three-phase connection for you.
Which charger is best for the Tesla Model S 60D?
