Kia EV6 GT EV charger: which one fits best?

The Kia EV6 GT is the quickest EV6 on the road. At home it charges just like every other EV6, through an 11 kW onboard charger on Type 2. The extra power of the GT sits in the motors and in DC fast charging, not in home charging. So for a full battery you pick an 11 kW charger that suits your fuse box. All Kia models and versions are listed on our Kia EV charger page.

For the Kia EV6 GT we recommend a charger from our 11 kW EV chargers.

Which EV charger suits the Kia EV6 GT?

Because the EV6 GT charges at 11 kW at home, a 22 kW unit adds nothing. The car simply will not take the extra power. An 11 kW charger on a three-phase connection is exactly what you need. Three-phase means your home supply carries three live phases instead of one.

Look at the MID meter as well. That is a certified kWh meter built into the charger. Because the meter sits in the charger, it records your charging separately from the rest of your household use. The certification is what makes that reading count as an official record. We stock chargers with a MID meter at both 11 kW and 22 kW.

Browse all 11 kW EV chargers in our range. A charger fixed to the wall is the usual setup for charging at home, and that is what our home EV chargers bring together. Have a qualified electrician make the connection. That is safer and it matters for your insurance. We arrange installation in the Netherlands, Flemish Belgium and Germany, and in Germany that runs through a free quotation. Shipping is worldwide, installation is not.

How long does the Kia EV6 GT take to charge?

The sum is straightforward. Around 74 kWh of usable battery divided by 11 kW comes to roughly 7 hours from nearly empty to full. Plug the GT in during the evening and it stands ready in the morning.

On the road the GT fast charges very quickly on a DC charger. That comes from its 800V system, a higher voltage layout that takes more power at once. At home the 11 kW onboard charger sets the pace.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Kia EV6 GT charge faster at home than a regular EV6?

No. The GT has more power on the road and fast charges very quickly on DC. Its onboard charger for home charging is 11 kW, the same as on the other EV6 versions. At home you charge the GT exactly as fast as an EV6 Long Range or Standard Range.

Does the Kia EV6 GT need a charger with a MID meter?

You do not have to have one, but it is a sensible choice. A built-in MID meter records what you charge separately from the rest of your electricity use. Because the meter is certified, that reading counts as an official record. In our view that is worth having: you always know exactly what charging your car costs.
