Cupra EV charger: which model suits your car?
Which EV charger suits a Cupra depends mainly on the model you drive. The fully electric Cupra Born and Cupra Tavascan charge at home at 11 kW on alternating current (AC). The plug-in hybrids Formentor and Leon e-Hybrid charge at up to 3.6 kW. At Wallbox Discounter you will find a separate page per Cupra model with the right charging advice. So you know exactly which charger suits your car and meter box.

Which EV charger suits a Cupra?
Do you drive a fully electric Cupra? Then you get the most out of an 11 kW charger. That is exactly the maximum charging power of the onboard charger in the Born and the Tavascan. Faster chargers add nothing for these cars at home. Do you have a Formentor or Leon e-Hybrid? Then the car charges at up to 3.6 kW. An 11 kW charger works fine with that and is handy if you switch to a fully electric car later.
Prefer a charger with a built-in MID meter. A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records your home charging accurately. From 2026 you can earn back a fee for home charging, but that scheme applies from 2026 in the Netherlands only. It comes to roughly 10 cents per kWh with a certified meter. A MID meter is worth your attention.

Frequently asked questions about Cupra EV chargers
What charging power do the electric Cupra models have?
The fully electric Cupra Born and Cupra Tavascan charge at home at up to 11 kW on alternating current via a Type 2 connection. The plug-in hybrids, the Formentor and Leon e-Hybrid, charge at up to 3.6 kW. Connect a fully electric Cupra to a 22 kW charger and the power stays capped at 11 kW. The car's onboard charger sets that limit.
Does a Cupra need a MID meter in the charger?
For charging itself a MID meter is not required, but it does pay off. With a MID-certified kWh meter you record your charging accurately. In the Netherlands you can earn back a fee for home charging from 2026 with a certified meter. For business declarations a MID meter is needed anyway.
