XPeng P5 EV charger: which one fits best?

The XPeng P5 charges at home at up to 11 kW through a Type 2 connection. With a useable battery of 60 kWh, that 11 kW is exactly enough to fill the car overnight without planning anything. A 22 kW charger will not speed this car up. The on-board charger caps at 11 kW, so anything above that stays unused.

Which EV charger fits the XPeng P5?

Three features are worth paying for on this car. A full charge takes around six hours, mostly overnight. Even then the car and the house share the same fuse box. That is the job of EV chargers with dynamic load balancing. The charger measures the current still free in your fuse box, then adjusts the charging power itself. A session that long also rewards timing. Look at EV chargers with an app and charge when electricity is cheapest.

The third is the MID meter, a certified kWh meter that records what you charge at home. Almost every charger we recommend has one built in. It first shows you what home charging really costs. From 2026, private drivers in the Netherlands can claim up to 500 euros a year through their energy supplier. That needs a certified meter, and the scheme applies from 2026 in the Netherlands only. How long does the XPeng P5 take to charge?

The sum is simple. A useable battery of 60 kWh divided by 11 kW comes to roughly 5.5 hours net. Add charging losses and you land between 5.5 and 6.5 hours from empty to full. Plug the P5 in around 23:00 and it is ready in the morning.

Only have a single-phase connection at home? Then the P5 charges at up to 3.7 kW and a full charge takes far longer. In that case a three-phase connection, arranged through your local network operator, is worth the trouble, because it unlocks the car's full 11 kW.

The XPeng P5 compared with the P7

The P5 is the compact, efficient sedan in the XPeng range. With a 60 kWh battery it fills up faster than the larger XPeng P7. Frequently asked questions about the XPeng P5 EV charger

Does the XPeng P5 need a three-phase connection?

Yes, if you want the full 11 kW at home. A three-phase connection draws current across three phases at once. On a single-phase connection the P5 charges at up to 3.7 kW, whatever the charger is rated for. A three-phase connection is arranged through your local electricity network operator; your installer can advise you.

Why does a MID meter matter for the XPeng P5?

A MID certified kWh meter records your home charging accurately. In the Netherlands that unlocks up to 500 euros a year from 2026 through your energy supplier. Anywhere else it gives you a figure you can settle with an employer or lease company. Without a certified meter you miss the Dutch scheme and cannot produce that reading, though the charger's app still shows what you use.
