Which charger fits the MG MG4 Electric Long Range?
The MG MG4 Long Range draws up to 11 kW at home, so a three-phase charger uses the car's full onboard power. A 22 kW charger adds nothing here, because the car itself caps at 11 kW. That makes an 11 kW model the natural starting point.
Worth a closer look is the MID meter, a certified kWh meter that records your charging accurately. In the Netherlands you can earn back around 10 cents per kWh you charge at home from 2026. That only works with such a certified meter, and that scheme applies in the Netherlands only. At 11 kW a built-in MID meter is still uncommon, so if it matters to you, pick a model that has one. How long does the MG MG4 Electric Long Range take to charge?
With an 11 kW charger and a 61.7 kWh battery, the bare sum is about 5.6 hours from empty to full. Count on roughly 6 hours in practice, because charging always loses a little energy. Plug in at 23:00 and the car is ready in the morning. On a single-phase connection the MG MG4 charges noticeably slower than on three phase. The car uses a Type 2 connection, like most modern chargers. For topping up at public points on the road, a separate Type 2 charging cable is useful.

Does the MG MG4 Long Range need a three-phase connection?
To reach the full 11 kW you need a three-phase connection with 3x16 amps. On a single-phase connection the car charges clearly slower, whatever the charger's rating. No three-phase yet? Your grid operator can arrange one.
Why is a MID meter important for the MG MG4 Long Range?
A MID meter is a certified kWh meter that records your home charging precisely. That helps when you settle charging costs with an employer or lease company. In the Netherlands it is also required for the 2026 earn-back scheme. At 11 kW a built-in MID meter is still uncommon, so check the spec before you buy.
