SsangYong EV charger: which model suits your car?

Drive an electric or hybrid SsangYong? The maximum AC charging power of your model decides which EV charger makes sense. SsangYong EV models charge through a Type 2 connection. Their charging speed stays on the modest side. At Wallbox Discounter every SsangYong model has its own page. You will find the exact charging power, the charging times and our charging advice there.

Which EV charger suits a SsangYong?

The all-electric SsangYong Korando e-Motion charges at home with a maximum of 6.6 kW on one phase. That single phase decides your choice, more than the rating on the charger. A 7.4 kW single-phase charger gives the car its full 6.6 kW. An 11 kW three-phase charger splits its power over three 16 A phases. Your Korando uses just one of them, so it drops to around 3.7 kW. That is slower than a 7.4 kW charger, not faster.

A 22 kW charger runs 32 A per phase. There the Korando does reach its full 6.6 kW. It also leaves room for a future EV that can take more. Charging power differs per car, so check your own car papers or the dashboard before you order.

For the SsangYong Korando e-Motion we recommend a charger from our 7.4 kW EV chargers.

A calibrated kWh meter, known as a MID meter, records exactly how much power you charge at home. That keeps your charging separate from the rest of your household use. So you can see what charging at home actually costs you.

One thing to know for this car: our 7.4 kW range has no model with a built-in MID meter. At 11 kW just one model in our range has one built in. The 22 kW range is where you really find them. Does a calibrated meter matter to you? Then step up to a 22 kW charger: the same 6.6 kW for your Korando, with the meter built in.

Our 11 kW EV chargers are the step up if a future three-phase EV is on the cards. Our 22 kW EV chargers charge this Korando at that same full speed. They also hold almost every EV charger with a MID meter we sell.

Frequently asked questions about SsangYong EV chargers

What charging power does an electric SsangYong have?

The SsangYong Korando e-Motion charges at home with a maximum of 6.6 kW on one phase. A charger rated higher does not lift that ceiling, because the single-phase on-board charger of the car sets the limit. Watch the phases rather than the rating. On a three-phase 11 kW charger this car uses one 16 A phase and drops to about 3.7 kW. You will find the exact charging power of each model on its own page.

Why does a MID meter matter for my SsangYong EV charger?

A MID meter is a calibrated kWh meter that records your home charging precisely. It separates the power you put in the car from the rest of your household use. So you know what charging costs you. For the Korando e-Motion there is a catch: no 7.4 kW model in our range has one built in. At 11 kW one model has, and at 22 kW most of them do.
